The 2006 certainly has a belt, not a chain, as I've recently had it replaced under the '6-yr recommended' rule.
The Renault Garage I took it to had to check the VIN to be certain whether it was belt or chain.

If it has 250bhp I should think it either has a length of steel hawser or a piece of anchor chain.
