We are planning to head down towards thenorth pennines/ lakes area after visiting the outdoor leisure show in Glasgow on Thursday. Probably try a britstop en route thursday night, has anyone got any recommendations for a CL/CS or site in the lakes with good walking from the door?

thanks

Not a cl/cs but a site I can recommend with fantastic walks from it is Scotgate at Braithwaite just outside Keswick.

Try the Lake & Fells CS, near Newby Bridge. A lovely quiet site.

in the blog section at the bottom is The Lakes and also Winter 2010 the Lakes.

I only live an hour away and have been many many times both boating and camping.

If your not averse to a little wild camping there are some superb spots with excellent walking around Crummock Water, Buttermere and for the really brave Wast Water. See blog.

Shoulthwaite Farm CL 3 miles south of Keswick is the oldest CL in the country and we like it there but not sure what walking is nearby.

Keen Ground at Hawkshead is fantastic and I know there is all sorts of walks from there as well as the village with pubs etc half a mile away. We spent the last two Christmas there. Just dont drive on his grass!

Brilliant walks, nice pub.

Low key commercial campsite, plus five van caravan club site, both open all year.

Our favourite winter and summer
