Just stumbled across this website:

Anybody used motorhome stopovers in Slovenia. I didn't know they existed.

Jed

PS Why hasn't Slovenia got its own section? Does nobody go there?

Fantastic country and a good link.

Stayed on a aires type place I found in the bordatlas once, just off the main motorway and behind a small hotel....free use of pool etc!

Thanks Jedi and Bimobil,

I was wondering too why there isn't a dedicated Forum. We're thinking of travelling down via Austria this summer.

Does Slovenia get very crowded in the school holidays? Is it a motorhome friendly country?

Hi, Meavy,

Down in Dubrovnik at the moment but intend to spend more time in Slovenia on the way north in a few weeks.

I spent a week at Camping Bled last month and my impression on driving through the country is that it is both very clean and well organised. No idea about school holidays but I'd definitely recommend a visit.

I am Slovene and I live in Bled. In general Slovenia is motorhome friendly and the above link is good and there are aires in our country. However, there are some places where you should go to a campsite - Bled, Bohinj, Ljubljana, Portoro... There are a lot of good campsites. During the summer there can be a lot of traffic on motorways because we are a transit country but it rarely gets very bad.
In summer information about traffic is published on this site

They have an excellent car park at Skokjanske Jame (cave), Slovenia. Only problem:

I should add that the caves are closed between those hours so the car park is absolutely empty.

Oh, and the campsite about 5km away has no chemical toilet disposal facility - and I couldn't see anywhere to fill your water tank either! For 20 euro you expect a little more.
