Motorhome Facts Staff

Motorhome Facts is a totally 100% voluntary community that is run by a small like minded team.
There are many jobs associated with running such a large organisation and here are the roles and staff that keep it all together.

Definitions:
Moderators - who look after the forums and ensure that we all have a nice, happy place to chat about motorhomes in.

Rally Co-ordinator - Overall in charge of rallies.
Rally Secretary - Administration behind running the rallies
Rally Assistants - Marshalling and other tasks associated with helping the rallies run smooth.

Photo Admin - Housekeeping tasks associated with the extensive photo gallery

Below is a short paragraph or two about each of our current staff members (25/07/2006) so that you can put names to faces etc

Nukeadmin - Admin / Webmaster
nukeadmin & julie

My name is Dave and I am the original creator of MHF. I am 38 years of age, married to Julie and have a Labrador called Bradley.
I am a web developer / internet entrepreneur and run a range of sites from communities like MHF and www.labradorforums.co.uk through to commercial e-commerce store like www.furbabies.co.uk (Online Pet Store) and www.outdoorbits.com (Online Motorhome accessory supplier and fitter)
I own a 2003 Euramobil 690HB which has been heavily modified to suit 1.5 years full timing around Europe which we recently completed with addons like Datastorm Internet broadband satellite system, Updated inverter/charger, Large Fitted underslung gas tank, solar panels X 2 (75w each), Strikeback alarm system.

Gaspode & Clianthus - Moderator & Rally Admin

I'm Ken “Gaspode” and my wife Jen is “Clianthus “ the Rally Secretary.
We are both down to earth Northerners by birth but have spent many years living in the Midlands and are now exiled by work and family ties to Surrey.
We bought our first motorhome (a Commer pop-top) in 1973-ish? but after many years without one returned to the fold a couple of years ago. We now run a Hobby T600, which we bought new in Germany in 2005 and hope to make up for the years we have missed being on the road whilst raising a family. We have two married daughters and two grandsons.
I'm one of those annoying practical types; I work as an engineer-surveyor, have a 1947 Triumph Roadster car which I restored a couple of years ago and take an interest in anything mechanical.
Jen is a lady of leisure these days but likes to use her organisational skills occasionally so tries to keep busy by organising the rallies with LadyJ.
We like to get to many of the rallies and meets so you'll probably meet us at one in due course if you haven't done so already.

Age 57, married with 3 children and 5 grandchildren; accountant in practice from home office for last 13 years. Motorhomer for nearly 8 years - Autocruise Starfire initially, and for last 2 years Pilote Galaxy 240. We try to get away in the van for a long weekend at least once a month, as well a having a main holiday in June or September.
Looking forward to being able to spend more time away when "winding down" to retirement, but clients keep getting in the way.

Autostratus - Moderator

Autostratus Moderator

I'm Gillian and from the photo on my bus pass you'll guess I'm over 70!
We have lived in NW Leicestershire since 1971 and I was employed as the manager of the laundry and linen services for the Leicestershire hospitals until I retired havng been based at a newly built laundry at the Groby Road Hospital in Leicester.
We started caravanning in 1975 owning a succession of caravans until we bought our first motorhome, a Swift Royale 590 in 2000. In 2002, for more space we replaced this with a Brownhills Suntor badged Elddis Autostratus EB.
We first visited France with our caravan in 1978 and have been many times since. We have also visited Belgium, Germany and Spain but France with its wonderful aires system remains our first love.
We now visit France three times a year although for not more than five weeks each time due to family commitments. One of the annual visits is with our son who has a learning disability, to a mobile home which we own in the Dordogne.

Hi, I am Mike, my wife is Mal. We both retired a while ago from the hospitality industry. Then after a couple of years lazing about Mal decided she was bored! So she went back to work, she now spends her work time on the administration and accounts for two Holiday Parks.

I am a qualified mechanical engineer and an unqualified Hotelier... I was born into the pub trade, when I left school I was mad keen on motorbikes and racing so thought that engineering was the way to go. I rode in Motorcycle Trials, Motocross, Grass Track and Speedway. I Surfed in the summer, Skied in the winter and for several seasons I raced Powerboats for various Manufacturers. Then I grew up, got married and went back into the family business, a Hotel and Restaurant. We spent the next 30 odd years working together building that up, 24/7 nose to the grindstone .

So now we are making up for lost time and our Motorhome allows us to go where we like, when we like. We use our van at every opportunity; we enjoy the outdoor life, long cycle rides and short walks.

Mandy and Dave Ascough, both in our mid forties, two kids Steven (23) and Kirsty(14) who is familiar to a lot of our members,
Mandy is a competent florist, and a creative cook within the confines of a motorhome kitchen, she enjoys the outdoor life to the full. She has excellent organisation skills, and an outgoing freindly manner.
Dave is a fully skilled motor vehicle technician, with over 27years experience in the motor trade, then moved into the taxi business a little over 5 years ago.
We have owned several motorhomes in the past, our current 'van is the 6th, our interest began when Steven started Autograss racing at the age of 16, a motorhome was the ideal vehicle to tow a race car, and provide accomodation needs at various circuits around the UK.
We both enjoy the meets organised with MHF, and have attended 7 of them in the last two years.

Artona - Moderator / Photo Admin

Artona

If you notice Artona is the last three letters of Stewart's name and the last three of Shona's.
We trade under the name as well - Artona Studios Ltd, a photography studio. Although based in Ipswich we take portraits all over the Uk and we are currently developing this into possibly full timing in our motorhome. As in 2006 Stewart is currently 45 and Shona 44 and Jessica was born on December 6 2005. There are three other members of the immediate family, david 21, Daniel 19, and Penny 18. The youngest two are about to go to university and David is off to Canada for a year so there are big changes about to happen. We currently motorhome in a 28foot Euromobil, our fourth motorhome. MHF plays a large part in our lives, we have been on 10 meets and rallies in the first part of 2006 alone. In that time we have made friends from all over England and in Wales, France, Ireland and Spain. MHF motorhomers are such a friendly lot and without exception invite you to drop in when in their part of the country or world.

Aaronsdad- - Rally Assistant

Lynda and I have been camping, caravaning and motorhoming now for about
32 years. We live on the sunny Isle of Wight. I retired quite young 9
years ago and therefore able to enjoy our hobby as and when the mood takes us. This summer we completed a whistle stop 4000 miles European
7 week tour to France, Belgium, Netherlands, Germany, Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Italy. A week after we returned to the UK we were marshals for the MHF rally at the Lincoln Mid Summer Music Festival where it was nice to put faces to the many new friends we had made on the MHF web site. My son, Aaron, is currently in a band called The Bees and is responsible for the music in the "Sure"
deodorant TV advert..

Snelly - Rally Assistant

Hello, we are Shane and Sally. Both in our thirties, Shane is a Paramedic and Sally is a teacher of blind/deaf adolescents. We have three children, Peter (15), Matthew (6) and Jacob (2). We live in Grimsby, which is in North East Lincolnshire.

We started out camping in a tent, then progressed to a trailer tent and eventually up to a caravan. We used to stare through the caravan window at motorhomes on site and talk about how we couldn’t wait to retire so we could get one. Then one day we said to eachother, "why are we waiting until we retire, we could have one now!". So we sold a few things (including my sports car!) and bought our first motorhome in August 2005. We love the rallies and meets, it’s a great way to socialise and make new friends. In 2006 I celebrated my thirtieth birthday as a meet, I cooked bbq food for everyone, it was the best birthday ever!

My name is Angie I am in my very early (whisper it) 50s together with George(Scottie) we live in Harrogate.
I am a Research Nurse (Cancer) and George is a Ward Clerk at the same hospital.
We have been together now for nearly 16years and are on our 6th Van. We started with a pop-top Bedford van, had a brief go with a caravan but came back to motorhoming with a twinwheel base transit, next was a Bedford CF, then an Autostratus and now we are on our 2nd Hymer.

We would love to get away more often but work is getting in the way at the moment.
George would love to go full-timing but I am a bit more cautious.
maybe in a year or so.
We enjoy meeting old and new members of MHF and a brief stint of marshalling at the York Show gave us a taste for running/assisting at a campsite somewhere, some day
I can dream.....
