Cramped into a pitch that would not enable us to sit outside.
Noisy and not very welcomming.
Litter strewn and bins turned over.
Quite a few younger people, but they did quieten down after 11:00

Handy for trams into Amsterdam.

Will not re visit this site
Gaasperplas south of the city is much better and at the end of a tram line into the city

Nice site. Reasonable price (€15) considering it's a city campsite.

Plenty of work being done in March 2011 to improve for the summer season. Large amount of motorhome spaces being improved.

Free wifi almost allover the campsite, although a signal booster helps in the more remote parts.

But anything longer than a 1 day travelcard at the shop on site to save a few €'s per person.

We have just returned from a couple of night stay this site and found it to be more than satisfactory. Staff very helpfull, English spoken.
We purchased the one day ticket (7 euro) allowing us to hop on and off buses trams or trains. For those wishing to visit Anne Franks house, take the 14 tram to WesterMarkt. Amsterdam is a beautifull city which has many supprises in store especially for those who have led a sheltered life.

The only negative comment I can make about the campsite is that being surrounded by lots of water, it is prone to midges / mosquitos. Normally I'm ok, but the blighters really went for me here, so I suggest some anti-mozzy spray in warm damp weather.

Just stayed for two nights - first time on this site and was a bit wary of other reviews I've googled for - saying it was a bit like Glastonbury with drugged-out people everywhere.

It was completely the opposite. A well-run site, everyone friendly and the facilities good, and easy journey into town on the tram.

I've been to Amsterdam many times (in hotels/apartments) but I would never use anything but this campsite again. Not especially cheap as campsites go, but cheap compared to the hotel option.

Just stayed here for 4 nights to tie in with Queen's Day in Amsterdam.
Shop on site very handy - fresh French sticks and pain de chocolate every day. Good range of items in shop. Staff helpful and friendly. Restaurant /bar - good food and wine for a very reasonable price.
Easy enough to get into the Centre. Short walk to get a tram.
Not bothered by any noise. Easy enough to fill up with water and get rid of waster etc.
All in all happy with our stay and would use again.
26 euros for camper + 2 + electricity per night.

Visited Nov 08. Good base for visiting the city, loads of motorhomes there and quite a few tents, even out of season. Reception only open between 0900 - 1200 in low season and the electronic gates shut at 2200 and open at 0800.
2008 prices (1 x plot inc electric, & 2 pers, all taxes included) - High season; €26 Mid Season; €21 Low Season; €15
We thought it particularly good value in low season considering the location.
Pleasant if slightly ramshackle feel to the place. Very friendly and helpful staff but book in procedure a bit chaotic, we were allocated 2 pitches that were already taken before eventually getting a vacant spot.
I think this is the only site close to the city that is open all year.
Good motorhome service point.
Quickest tram to city centre is the no 26 (€1.60 each way p/p) but staff at reception will advise you on the best ticket packages depending on how many days you are staying.
Overall, a good experience and we would use the site again if we returned to Amsterdam.

We stopped here in April, for a day in Amsterdam on the way to the ferry at Ijmuiden. Fairly easy to get to being just off the motorway. 10 minute walk to the tram stops for a short hop into the city or a taxi for about 15 euros if its raining or cold.
As we have come to expect of sites in Holland this is a nice friendly place, english spoken throughout and a pleasant cafe / bar along with a small shop selling essentials
Well laid out site with easy access to waste and water for MH. Cold water washrooms with hot water showers available by token bought in shop.
The previous comment about noise didn't affect us, perhaps it was the time of year, the site was only a quarter full and was very quiet.
Would I return, yes no problem at all. Half an hour from the Amsterdam to Newcastle ferry and easy access into the city are its main features for me.
