Had a lovely weekend here in Mid-March.

Christine and Rusty are really helpful and as said before sell pork from the pigs that Rusty keeps and also sell free range eggs.

The facilities are kept spotless but only one toilet and one shower. However Rusty has put up lights on a telephone post so you know when they are engaged. Have hook ups, fresh water, loo and waste water disposal (although waste water disposal point is not very accessible).Site has a Lake cum pond in the middle of it which you appear to be able to fish from - loads of fish in it but not very big

There are two local shops, one a post office and one a general store.

If you want loads of night life then Garlieston is not the place for you - only one pub and that doesnt serve food until the Caravan Club site opens in April.

Lots of coastal walks locally - Garlieston was where Mulberry Harbours were tested during WWII. Port William is worth a short visit as is Isle of Whithorn where Wicker Man was filmed. There is Bladnoch distillery close to Wigtown for whisky lovers and a nine-hole golf course at St Medans (where also is memorial to Gavin Maxwell - Ring of Bright Water and also a lovely ruined church down by the shore)

A lovely site. The owners are extremely helpful and friendly and the facilities are first class. There's one toilet and shower but they are seperate and spotlessly clean.
Rusty and Christine(owners) sell free range pork from their own rare breed Large Black pigs and also free range eggs.
The harbour is 2 minutes walk as is the pub which allows dogs and serves good food. There is a post office and shop just outside the site gates and there is also a small Spar shop on the harbour side. Good coastal walks in both directions from Garlieston village.
A great place to relax.
