We have visited this site again for the first time since we set up the MHF entry in 2009. We liked it then, and were surprised that several later reviews were quite negative. This time, we think it was even better. The pub now has a new landlord, who is keen to develop the site further. The price is actually cheaper now than it was in 2009 - £10 flat rate for a caravan or motorhome, with our without electricity. Tent campers pay £4 each, but no-one would pay more than £10 for a pitch. There are still four EHU points, but they are attached to the walls of the little toilet block and need at least a 25 metre cable. In 2009, there was a pretty mediocre bathroom. This has now been completely renovated, and there is a decent shower, washbasin and washing up area. There are also male and female toilets available 24 hours a day. There is no grey or black water disposal, although fresh water is available. The pub offers a typical pub menu, but the food is well cooked and presented, and the portions are very generous. We thought the food prices were very reasonable. We remain of the view that this is a tremendous little site, with firm, level grass pitches in great walking country.

This has now been taken over by Dave and Pat. Great Pub / site. £10 per motorhome.

Pub has outside toilets / washing up area / very nice shower. about 3 acre field, slight slope but some flat areas - nothing to worry about though!

Very nice owners. Very nice food, reasonably priced and big portions! We ended up sharing.

Very nice views / walks. Canal close by. Going back for a whole week in 3 weeks time!

It's not the cheapest, nor the most well equipped but I love this site. May be it's the Guinness.
Very friendly and convenient for walks, kayaking and sighteseeing.
Food is good pub food (you will not go hungry) and the beer is the best kept selection.
Along the way, the cricket provides free entertainment

We loved staying here - we stopped for one night low season and were made extremely welcome.

How could I not like it? It was a proper pub that did really good food with a camping field right next to it.

We'd phoned the day before and told just to park up in the field once we got there.

Peter came by to say hello as he was going out with his dog. He described for us an hour's walk that took us along a stretch of canal and through the very pretty village.

Despite there being a crib match and a PTA meeting going on a table was reserved for us to have our meal - the home made pie (I had rabbit) was amazing. I want to go back and sample the steak and ale and venison ones, too.

Just a couple of points to correct:

- there aren't currently any electrical hookups available (though Peter is planning to add this)

- there is a shower and washroom and kitchen sink. The shower needs a token that you get from the pub.

There is now one shower in the refurbished ladies and gents toilets. The cost of a shower is £1. Electric hook-up is no longer available(health and safety was the reason given).
Very helpful and friendly landlord.
