Been here 2 days but planning on a week. Shower blocks have been renovated and are now up to date - noting that the WC's are unisex, but showers separate. Excellent reception staff, and at this time of year they leave you to sort your own pitch. No more Camping Cheques, but off-peak ACSI @€14.95. Premium pitches along the river €17.95. Plus seven nights for the price of six. Free WiFi covers the whole site. Very popular with UK and Dutch tourers.

This site has just passed into new ownership. Probably a good thing as the shower blocks are in need of refurbishment. The staff told us they hope that the new owners will be spending some serious cash for next season. New owners are the Flowers Campings group and they say that Camping Cheques will no longer be accepted for the 2012 season, however they will be part of the ACSI scheme. Very nice pool but the pitches were looking a little jaded at the end of the season.

Visited September 2010. Pretty much the same report as Georgiemac - except that I was going to excuse the not-very-well-maintained toilet block because we went just after the busy season. It seems their maintenance is not all it could (and should) be for a very expensive site.
If I recall it was €35 per night in the high season, and still €24 when we went. It is a Camping Cheques site, so we got away with €15 per night, which was much more acceptable. Would have felt "done" if we paid €24, and positively fleeced at €35!!
Camping Cheques definitely recommended for this one.
Very convenient though, and we would go again, but would ask to look around first then request a pitch of our choice. Some of them are very pokey and have no view at all. The view of the floodlit chateau at night is spectacular.

Visited June 2011. The first pitch we were given was under trees, very shaded and dark. The closest toilet block was closed, appeared unkempt and dirty. We asked to be moved and chose a pitch nearer to the swimming pool, although busier this was much larger and brighter - however other campers thought it was ok to continually walk through our pitch - even when we were sitting out - a bit annoying but not the camps fault. The nearby open toilet/shower facilites were ok - male and female toilets adjacent to each other, not ideal but clean and tidy. The washing sinks did not have any plugs - I think to encourage you to use the machines instead. Good 15 mins walk into town, make sure that you come back the same way as you go - we headed to the the iron bridge which we thought would take us back to the camp site - it didn't and we had a very long walk back. There is an adjacent aire on the approaching car park which could be used overnight instead of paying the quite expensive site fees. All in all a reasonable site, with helpful and knowledgeable staff, within reach of good facilities.

Large commercial site which is a bit impersonal. However the facilities are comprehensive and well maintained. There is a motorhome service point before you enter the site alongside the local athletic stadium (on the right as you approach the site). The view across the river to the chateaux is lovely in the evening. A footpath runs from the site along the river bank to the bridge into Saumur.
