Arrived at 10:00 on 23/09/12 and went into the town, on returning at 14:00 we found the site had been taken over by "Travelers" with caravans and most motor homes had been driven off. They placed a noisy generator at the rear of our MH and eventually we left and parked in the coach park.

They kept arriving must have been 70 or 80 caravans.

The Gendarmes arrived with a woman from the council but they only tried to make them pay.

Looked like they planned to stay for some time as many of the men went out in the morning looking as though going to work, many vans hads signs saying they were roofers!

Nice town nice aire but not when full of Travelers.

Highly recommended - we used this aire twice this year. 4 for a day stop or 7 for 24 hours. Toilets open till 7.00 pm. Water. waste and chem plus two rubbish bin areas.
If the aire is full, vans use the coach/park - but be aware that the coaches arrive early in the morning and get cross if they can't get in.
Very touristy town ( birthplace of Albert Schweizer )but very pretty.
Excellent and reasonable pottery just up the lane at the back of the town centre.

Still a busy site because it's so nice! You can see storks nesting on the rooftops (especially in July) The castle is a wonderful viewpoint. There's some good walks signposted and the town is very pretty. There's a great shop selling homemade ice creams in home made waffle cones! To get free wi-fi, go to the tourist office and they'll give you a code for two hours or more if you need it. Coverage has been extended to the aire. The nearby Champion supermarket is good and it has fuel. It's lovely to cycle round here and it's still cheap - two euros to park in the daytime and four euros from 7pm - 9am. The town itself is very quiet at night after the tourist buses leave. There are recycling bins at the top of the aire and outside on the road in.

Update September 2011. Kaysersberg is a lovely and very touristy town, well worth a visit. There are also some excellent paths for walking in the surrounding hills. The Tourist Information can supply maps.

The aire is popular, so arrive fairly early. Free water and sanitary facilities.

Free wifi is now available in much of the town centre. Ask at the tourist office for the pass code. Coverage did not extend to the aire when we were there ( October 2008).

Visited July 2008 although busy it was quiet during the night. Toilet block not too bad on our visit and had evidence of having recently been cleaned. Ideal stopover for large MH's and great for cycling.

Very nice town, olde with lots of restuarants a short walk away. A few wine caves. Aire was busy when we used it in Sept 07. There are storks nesting in the roofs. Lovely sounding area.
