| Information: | This is off the D918 on the way up to the Col d'Aspin. Follow the signposts to the lake. As you approach the lake the aire is at the junction where the road to the lake turns off from the road to the "Complexe Touristique". For the parking, take the turn to "Hourquette d'Ancizan" and cross the little river Adour. Amazing views and very quiet. | |

We happened on this spot in early October 2011. Maybe not an approved Aire as there are signs to the contrary but it's frequented by many French and other nationalities. Drinking water and grey waste disposal are available just above the site by the more major road more comprehensive facilities may be available at the more official Aire to the East of the tourist complex. Not withstanding the above this parking offers a peaceful mountain atmosphere with the option of good walking and even tourist shopping at the small gaggle of restaurants & shops a few hundred meters to the West. At over 3000 feet above sea level this site goes cool at night in October (10 deg C) but daytime was wonderfully warm. | |
