Campsite Okay. Bus Stop at end of road into Town
Nice Facilities
Ideal for Quiet Winter Break
What we did not like:
We decided to stay on Sunday afternoon. The site was almost empty. When we enquired about leaving the van on site for the afternoon whilst we went out walking, we were asked for an extra 3.
Now at the time we heated by gas, so no EHU in use. But more to the point, we did not arrive until 9pm on the Friday, so missed out on 9 hours of camping.
We did not pay the 3 and left at noon
Furthermore, will not return.

Stayed here at end of October 09 for the first time.
Great Site, Lovely size pitches.
Toilets and showers clean.
Nice playarea for kids.
Site can take large RV's as we went in a 40ft RV.
No problems with access to site or fitting on pitch. (Do try and book a De-luxe pitch first though)
Will definately go again.

A very handy site for a winter break as one of the few open, and plenty of space during a half term week. Views lovely, but some road noise heard one day (maybe wind blowing a particular way?). Very large pitches and immaculately clean washroom, friendly owner. Lovely 2.5 mile walk to village of Ashurst and great Poets Corner pub - watch out for up hill back! Tansley village 1 mile but little there apart from pubs and steep climb back up busy road. Dog friendly with woodland walking area, and children's play area well away from most of the pitches.

Visited this site twice in Febuary
Staff very friendly, Toilets Clean and tidy, Newspapers available to order
Basic provisions available from reception
Good size Hardstanding pitches with good views over Derbyshire
A short walk takes you to a Garden centre which has a Very nice Cafe and seperate restaraunt with good quality food (discount for lickpenny visiters on food)
10 minute walk to Bus stop then short trip into Matlock
On our second trip we ventured out in our van to Bakewell which has plenty of easy parking at the Agrocultural centre site which is a very short walk into town
