Nicely situated and very convenient aire. We had fabulous weather (albeit a bit too hot for walking). As others have written, Ambleside is just a few minutes walk away. From the site you can comfortably walk to many fells (e.g. Wansfell Pike:6m, Red Screes:8m, Loughrigg Fell:6m).
Good 3G coverage for those who want internet access (I was getting 4Mbits/s).
For those of you who have a 'no solids' policy in their toilet cassette, there is a toilet in the little sports park next to the site. It costs 20p but is only open in the summer from 9 til 5. There's another public toilet (also 20p) behind the Barclay's Bank in Ambleside which is open for longer - I think 08:00 to (maybe) 18:00)

Great site for lakes, listed as a motorhome aire but also allows
tents,non converted vans and caravans.
Also no control of generators altrough rules say no generators after 10 pm.

Stayed here for two nights November. Arrived around 9pm and had emailed and sent a text to Graeme who had promptly replied to both stating "should be able to accomodate you". We took one of the last two places on the main hardstanding (Grass field was closed due to flooding and wet weather). Glad we pitched up on the main hardstanding because someone was using a very loud generator until beyond Midnight on the far hard standing. Why do people do this? It clearly states no generators after 8pm or before 10am. Very fair of them to allow there usage and then people abuse it. Overall: Loved the spot. Quiet once the genny was off. Very convenient for the town and lake walks. Very impressed and pleased with our stay. But it needs to stay at £10

Currently at Millers field, great little site with large hardstanding area with about 10 vans on it. Could fit about 20 if required. Also grass area for the summer. Has fresh water and toilet dump point, no EHU (would be nice this time of year) 5 minute walk to town which has many outdoor shops and some good walks in the sourounding hills. The owner is going to go back to the council to see if they will give planning for EHU - no hope of that then if the council are involved. Why cant councils see the benifits that we bring to comunities and the money we spend in them.

We stayed here three times and its right in the heart of Ambleside Village next to the church but nice and quiet at night. All the pitches are a sort of gravel and sand hard standing about 10 meters across. Entry is by inputing code into lock which you will be given by Graeme when you book it. The Field mentioned in the other review is not used in winter as its boggy and a film crew churned it up with latge RVs when they booked on this summer. Mostly though you should find a pitch at £10 a night (water and Elsan) no hook up.

We booked via e-mail and and were supplied with security code to enter the site and other relevant information. When we arrived at lunchtime on saturday the hardstanding area was full. The adjacent field which is normally available was out of use - it had been rented out for storage of some large trailers.
The person looking after the trailer field told us he had another 13 motorhomes booked in that day! It appeared that many of the motorhomes already parked up had not booked and nobody was willing to move them.
Many had awnings out or gazeebos erected therefore occupying 2 spaces.
The system of booking and security entry codes clearly don't work - stick to a proper campsite who know what they are doing!

This started out as a Motorhome only "Aire" style camping place. However he now accepts tents and caravans. It is still an ideal stopover to visit Ambleside and the surrounding area. £10 per night. August 2011
