Review Rating:: | We stayed on the aire at Veurne twice on our recent trip, the first was on the evening we arrived at Dunkerque as it is only a 30 minute or so drive from the ferry. We were so taken with the town and we decided to spend a couple of days there on our return. We were not disappointed as there was an annual flower market in the old square on the first day, so we were like a travelling greenhouse on the way home.
We parked with the rest of the motorhomes on the quay of the canal at
51.070347,2.666037 but the actual aire is at 51.070388,2.667317.
There is a toilet dump (free) and toilets 50 cents and showers 1 euro 50
availabe in the building next to the toilet dump, but! Put your money in and push on the door at the same time as you do not get a lot of time before the door locksagain.
But a convenient and delightful place to spend a night

Review Rating:: | We visited this aire last week and have discovered that the details about the police issuing tickets is a little misleading. The town hall informed me that the Police did indeed issue tickets, but these were associated with motorhomers who were irrisponsible i.e. large motorhomes parking laterally across two or three bays, and occassion parking so as to block in other vehicles, and across and entrance to one of the businesses on the marina. In response the Police, quite rightly, issued parking tickets. So, just act responsibly and you will find the Police will be tollerent of you, and the residents will be welcoming |
Review Rating:: | Stayed here 28th July on Lindendreef rather than by Marina because of warning about prosecution. Also bike rack makes MH stick out on road too much on Kaiplaats. Very noisy early morning, so not much sleep.
Left hand shower in toilet block didn't work despite taking money.
Veurne lovely town though! Great bar for beer enthusiast in Grote Markt called Flandria. Also Kathedraal bar round corner has own beer. |
Review Rating:: | We spent Wednesday evening ( 2nd Sept ) along with two other English and one Dutch motorhome at the Aire on Lindendreef, Veurne.
A local Belgian chap was telling one of the other couples who had arrived earlier than us, that the Police have recently started to prosecuting every motorhome using the parking bays at the marina around the corner in Kaaiplaats, which is not designated for motorhome parking.
I must point out that CamperStop 2009 does indicate "parking at at the jetty harbour" but we were all of the opinion better to be safe than sorry.
Having said all this, the aire is a favourite ours for overnighting before catching the Dunkerque - Dover ferry. We always fill up with diesel at Veurne Truckstop (1.00euro /litre) before setting off for the ferry. |
Review Rating:: | Very good camper stop with 10 large (8m) bays and maybe 20 smaller (6M) parking spaces. The facilities are open 6 am to 8:30pm Monday to Friday. And 10am to 6pm on weekends. But when we were there it was open all the time. There are showers (Euro 1.50) and Toilets (Euro 1.50). If you park on the side closest to the town (North side) it is also possible to have electric hook-up (Euro 2.50 for a ticket), (Euro 25 deposit if you need a cable). Two days max stay.
Sometimes there is a lock house keeper, but Ive not seen one on the weekend. You can call 00 32 058 31 10 04 in advance and they can tell you when there will be someone there if you need electric.
There are major road works on the E40 and J1a is closed (May 2008) so you need Junction 1 or 2, follow the signs onto the ring road. The N39 from J1. if you follow the ring road you will come to Kaaiplaats in the south east of town. Quite easy to find right by the river. If you approach from the north J2 you will pass a Honda dealer which is quite close by on the other side of the river. Veurne its self is a typical Belgium town. One main square with quite a few places to eat and drink with a Mister Cash point just off the main square on the shopping street by BLOCKKER shopping store. |
