There is free and good wifi available. Look for “ Port_Plaisance_Gravelines”. You will be asked for an e-mail address and name and then follow the on-screen instructions. Your log in and password will be sent to the e-mail address you gave, immediately.

These do not change, and remain valid whenever you use the aire.

You have one hour per 24 hours, automatically renewed at midnight, and can log in and out as often as you wish on any device you wish. If you have 2 e-mail addresses then you can have 2 hours per day.

The number of spaces have been increased to about 20 since we were last here 2 years ago. You can now park on the harbour side as well as the other side of the road. The cost is 6 euro per night payable by card only at a meter. There are no services, these are located about a mile away but there are directions on how to get to these and the way is well signed. It is a short walk into town where there are plenty of banks, cafes, restaurants and an assortment of small shops. Across the other side of the harbour there is a Lidl and slightly further away a large Super U supermarket.

Had a pleasant night's stop at this aire. Machine is now fully operational and March to Sept it is 6 euros and 3 euros the rest of the year. Credit card only. The roadway is now one -way i.e. east to west. The walkway across the lock gates is currently under repair so it was necessary to walk around the harbour and over the road bridge (about 15 mins walk) to get to Lidl.

A payment machine was present when we visited 11th October 2011. Someone asked at the garage and it will come into use some time in 2012. Charges will be 6 euro 1st April to end of September, 3 euro for the rest of the year. Payment is by credit/debit card only.

Still a very useful and pleasant aire, so we will carry on using it.

Visited July 2011 This is a very popular Aire as mentioned in previous reviews. Beware about parking in between the large stones as you will be moved on. There are no facilities on this Aire, they are approx 1 mile away. There is a SuperU and Lidl within walking distance.

Be aware that this Aire has become very popular and late arrivals will struggle to find a space. Beginning of October 2010 and it was chock bang full on a Friday evening. Philjohn.

Great aire, even if there are no facilities. Location is excellent and Gravelines is a very interesting town that deserves a visit. When we parked (on a Friday night) there were 30 vans up and down the road, with room for a few more. Everyone was respecting the new markings on the road that prohibit parking near the jetty entrance. But there is ample room on both sides, plus the allocated parking across the road. We were at the most "inland" end, and there was a bit of road noise during the night.

Good level hardstanding parking next to the harbour. A Lidl supermarket is a 5 minute walk away. Still no facilities and services shown at Camping les Dunes were out of order when we visited in May 2009. Next nearest services at Calais. Pleasant quiet town.

We visited this Aire on the way out and on our return Mar/Apr 09.
Pleasant location and very convenient for the Dunkerque Ferry.
Quick tip, don't be tempted to park along the front of the quai, especially near to the pedestrian access door to the boat jetty, the local boat owners like to park their cars there before going off fishing and were blocking motorhomes in on both our visits as a sort of mini protest. It is advisable to park in the area on the other side of the road next to the tourist info sign which is the proper overnight parking area for motorhomes.
Hopefully the local council will put up signs as to where you can and cannot park overnight to make it clear.
Also, be aware that there is a market every Friday morning and the locals do tend to park their cars all along the front as well. You should take this into consideration, especially if you have a ferry to catch.
Don't let any of the above put you off staying here, its a great place to stay, just make sure you park in the right place.
