We stayed at the site this weekend just past. We normally wildcamp, so this was quite an event for us! The site is located within the grounds of a pub and the pub is now back under the control of the actual owners following a period of having a troublesome tenant licensee. The site itself is an okay size for 4 medium size units, and we were the only unit there. It will take 8m+ vans if only 2 vans are using the pitches. Electric is included in the pitch price (now 10pn) and they are not bothered whether you are a CC member or not. The ground is firm having been gravelled some years ago, but the ground is stable even though the pea shingle has now all but sunk.

There is no grey or waste disposal in the field, nor fresh water. Instead these services are provided at the rear of the PH about 50m away. You cannot park and dump grey water it has to be decanted.

The grey is emptied down a grilled drain cover which is 18" deep and services the PH drains. This is also where the toilet waste is dumped. This dump site is IMMEDIATELY in front of the water supply!

Fresh water is provided by a single water supply with multiple taps branching off of it. The first tap is labelled Drinking Water but has a short length of hosepipe attached which suspiciously looks like the cassette rinse. A length of copper pipe then passes a label declaring Waste disposal but the tap is now missing. The same branch then leads to the drinking water tap with a hozelock connector.

When a van is parked as close as possible, you will need a 20m hose to fill comfortably.

The PH had only just re-opened after we got there (a week or so earlier) and we were the only customers until late in the evening when 4 regulars turned up. The following night only 2 other customers arrived.

The landlord was friendly enough but we felt tolerated not welcomed. Dogs are no problem in the PH. No meals are provided by the pub at the moment and my first pint bore a taint of pipe cleaning fluid!

The site is convenient for Alton Towers, the Derby Dales etc. Would we stay again? Yes. Would we recommend it? No.
