I know one of these exists, but couldn't find one whilst over there. Could someone point me in the direction of one, it's the guide which details where they are and what facilities & costs etc ?

Found in some hypermarkets in France or try one of the magazine/newspaper/book shops often part of the complex of shops in the hypermarket building.

Can be bought in the Uk for (I think) 7.50ukp
Also by mail order from the publishers of CampingCar magazine.

The book featuring Aire de service can be purchased in this country from the camping and caravaning club.A basic knowledge of french is needed but it is quite easy to understand

It may seem a small point but it could be important.

If you are looking for the location of an aire in a Department, when looking at the map which accompanies Le Guide Officiel check that the map has all the aires marked on it that are listed in the book.
We have found that quite a few are missing and it can give you the wrong idea about a department.
