Anybody Played With chatGPT

I had a play with this so called AI over the last couple of days.

IMHO, it's just a glorified PC, yes faster, with lots of data, but AI in the true sense it is NOT. It just regurgitates lots of the stuff its already been programed with, when stumped just regurgitates a standard sentence about it's limitions.
I asked it to write C code, & python code, and although it looks really impressive as it spits it out, none of it worked.
Its forte seems to be writing fictional stories, which if I'm right looks like everthing you're seeing which passes for news right now. It's text version of Siri etc.

Also it's biased to the agenda of the body uploading all it's data, which in itself sets alarm bells ringing.

Anyway that's my tuppence worth....

Can I ask what you did with it and what you could potentially do with it that would be useful in day to day life Jim?
Can I ask what you did with it and what you could potentially do with it that would be useful in day to day life Jim?
just asked a few simple questions to see how it worked, nothing technical, but to be frank, the answers could be found with Googling ..

as for it's day to day usefulness, I haven't really explored it's potential to give an informed answer .. try it out yourself, there is a link on the page I listed ..
Thanks Jim

It's WAY outside of my techie comfort zone I'm afraid and if I can't see what use I could make out of it then I'll not bother. Bit of the dinosaur strain with me I'm afraid :D hence my asking for some real life examples so I could try and start to get my head around it as I honestly did not understand a word of the OP....

I seriously doubt that. Because: when you create an account, (just as you did for MHF), you are presented with a simple text box in which to type your question of choice. Thats it.
Simple questions will get simple answers, and vice versa. The down side is that it's as biased as the people that programmed it.
I'm not sure what questions I would need/like to ask it tbh.

That's what I'm thinking. Not that I've tried it, but if I've got an app that works already I'll just stick with it!

I have tried more difficult questions, like the 'meaning of life ' 'is there a God', it didn't produce anything I didn't already know.. basically it didn't know..

I asked the best driving route to India... it said it was too dangerous and difficult, too many borders and hazards... so it couldn't advise , said that flying would be my best option... lol

maybe if you are academic or mathematician it may be useful, but for me, I'll stick with Google and Google maps .. oh..not forgetting Facebook that has the answer to everything... lol.

Yes, agreed. But my main gripe is that it's labeled as AI, yet it's just regurgitating preprogrammed data. It's NOT 'thinking' at all. it's more like a textual Siri/(other crap available).
The imagery version may be better..
