Hi, I've got em and got stuff to get rid of em but has anyone any ideas on how to stop them in the first place?

Mine is a 9 year old elldis eclipse and having spent 5 hours washing, restoring and waxing her you can imagine my joy at the black streaks returning the first time in rained!!!! (It does that a lot in Lancs)

Can I seal the rubbers with anything?

Any help would be much appreciated.
