Hi all

We are off to Spain next week, for four weeks, and are hoping to install a couple of larger LPG bottles than the standard two 6kg ones in my locker at present. We would then not have to worry about running out.

We own a 2002 Hymer B584 and have been wondering whether the 12kg bottles supplied by Flogas would fit in my gas locker.

Does anybody have any information?

Best wishes

Baz

Hi bazzybabes

If you are coming down to the Malaga (costa del Sol) area PM me.

NOT promoting business but as part if our MH hire and repair/service we also supply Spanish gas/valves. Unless we are overwelmed (unlikly) you, and any other MHF member, can have a bottle and valve on free lone..........just return it like you got it, full.

Yes I know quite a few MHF's come down to Spain.......not all to where I am, I hope!!

Never know when I might be back in the UK and need a bit of help..... like last time when I had a great/helpfull day with Smifee.

Anyway, have a great BH break.................clear, bright and hot here!!!!!!!

bigger gas bottles

What a wonderful site!

@ Detourer
Many thanks for your kind offer. Will pop in and say hello if you pm me and we're around your way. Nice to know there are still gentlemen around.

@ Hymer634
Thanks Alan, just what I was looking for. Went to my local Flogas agent at Hollingworth Lake Camp Site and it was £13 per bottle for 11kg.
Lady in shop suggested I visit our local council waste depot to obtain a couple of empty bottles. This I did and got one empty one and one full one, although it was butane not propane ... for nothing. Returned to campsite and they were exchanged for propane bottles for £26.
Flogas will deliver to your home for £15 per bottle plus £15 deposit if you haven't got an empty one in return.

Many thanks, Baz

:D Hi bazzybabes. We usually use the Spanish bottles while we are in Spain (much cheaper than here). I think they are 15kg (can't remember off-hand). We find they last between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 weeks depending on season. This includes cooking, heating, washing and showers. With 2 x 11kg I would think you should have quite sufficient, unless you have the heating on all the time (unlikely at this time of the year). Enjoy your Holiday and don't drink too much Vino Tinto. Hasta la Vista. :D

Hi bazzybades

You are most welcome. I will PM you my phone number as soon as the wife tells me what it is! (Only had the phone a year, but never ring myself).

JSW....quite right. Cost of gas down here is cheap at around 8e's a bottle.
For those travelling down to Spain a good tip is to pop into one of the many boot/flee/gen markets. You will almost certainly get an empy bottle there for 5e - 10 e, valves available anywhere at 6e...............so for 20 'ish e you are sorted.

:D Hi Detourer. A lot of the older Motorhomers are changing over to the much lighter but smaller alluminium CEPSA bottles too. But I don't think they have the depot's like Repsol do at the moment.

Another option is to fit an LPG tank - getting cheaper all the time.

I paid £117 for my 60 litre tank and for the price of a refilof a 6K bottle I can fill this tank which is may times the capacity.

Another more expensive option is to go the Gasflow route.

Hi JSW

Only today I changed to the lighter Ali bottles, Available in all Capsa stations and loads of other outlets...............same price. they are much lighter but the size is an illusion, they have the same gas content as the heavies. But they do look nice...............like beer kegs!

:D My RV already comes with an on-board LPG tank. It only lasts between 12 and 15 weeks, so I need extra capacity with bottles using a 'T' to last me up to 9 months (lucky me). 8)
