Latest Windows update has lost my Samsung monitor speakers.
I seem to remember this happening some years ago and now can't remember how it was fixed.

Been into 'sounds', 'device manager' and there is no Samsung speakers listed. In fact no Samsung anything although the monitor screen is OK.
So have to plug in some Realtech speakers to get any sound at all. But no where can I see my Samsung speakers listed even though they have been fine for years up to this morning.

Looked online and lots of suggestions about drivers but nothing about them not being listed.

No Jean they are in the monitor/TV and have been happily working for a couple of years or more. The monitor is fed via a HDMI cable and most suggestions on the net have been change the cable. That does not work as I have a few. The TV part of the monitor sound works.
So now after plugging in an external pair of speakers and cluttering up the desk I have to remember to turn them on and off again each day. Not a major difficulty but annoying as It's been 'done' to me.

Have you got a Backup you could go to Ray? Maybe if you did that and then update again they will work. I know ages ago on an old machine my photos all vanished after an update and was told to try going back to the last day they were there and then update again, that worked.

Yes Jan I have checked all updates and I have the latest also all video and sound 'drivers' all current. I do have a back up PC and screen but that does not have internal speakers or very much loaded onto it.

I know this happened several years ago and I either found the answer or it corrected itself eventually. I don't want to go down the route of changing everything only to find it get worse.

Can you ask it to search for new devices?

Yup, I do try to keep it as simple as I can Kev. But their updates often cause some questionable changes.
Lost my phone signal for 12 hours yesterday. Dunno why and it was probably "them" but you don't know at first and try changing things which get you deeper in the mire.

Found it.!!!!
Seems it updated the "Sound Video Game Controllers" which eliminated the Samsung monitor speakers. Rolled it back to 2019 and all working again.
Only took a month.

It's happened again.
Every morning I have a routine of checking e-mails, two forums, the Pound, and a couple of bank accounts. All done with a couple of clicks as the access and account numbers are stored. But thats all changed this morning as now every site needs the full identity ID and account number entered.
No big deal but as I haven't touched anything since yesterday I assume Windows must have updated things overnight.
One account in particular that I have been clicking on for a couple of years I now have to delve into the filing cabinet to locate the Customer ID, the account number and log in password. Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Maybe your signature would be different if you'd had that kind of security checking in the past Ray, so be grateful that some things have changed even though it might be a pain.

Be even more grateful that you kept the ID stuff where you could find it too, I just need a folder my means are so meagre.

Ha ha Kev. I do tend to be belt and braces with back ups and copies of almost everything.
Two bank accounts are needed when living in France but income from UK. We used to have many more US accounts until 8 years ago when it seemed prudent to simplify life.
Yes, it's just one of lifes minor inconveniences when we are constantly being told by those happy smiling faces on the adds telling you how easy everything is now with only 'one' click.

Dun it again. Bluddy windows has just done another big update and now no sounds. Apparently the PC can't 'see' any audio speakers again.
I hate updates as they take more time to resolve that they are worth.

In fact I'm so pissed off with this latest update I now am trying to find out how to reverse it.
It's made all taskbar icons larger and there is no way I can make them smaller again.
