Hi

We found the valley above Brancon leading to Col de Lautaret devoid of campsites, but we found 3 'aires' :

1 - Top of the Col du Lautaret; huge parking area on south side of the col, hidden from the main road. No services but a fabulous spot. Close to start of Col de Galibier road.

2 - Travelling down towards Briancon from Col du Lautaret turn sharp right 1km before Le Monetier les Bains onto the road leading to Le Casset. In about 500metres there is a rough track leading down left to a couple of small artificial ponds on the valley floor. When we were there 4 or 5 years ago the shores of these ponds were popular for motorhomes. Again no services.

3 - At Le Monetier les Bains there is a basic Aire. It is the large Parking les Charmettes which has water and also a grid for emptying waste. It is on a back road on the other side of the river from the village and close to the chairlifts.

We have stayed on all these.

Lastly there is of coures the huge municipal aire at Montgenevre just before you go over into Italy on the N94 from Briancon. There is a charge at this one (10 euros?) Not stayed here.

If you are heading in the M. Ventoux direction there are Aires at Sault and Montbrun les Bains to the NE. While to the S of the 'hill' there is an Aire next to the municipal piscine at Bedoin. W of th 'hill' there is an Aire at Malaucene but it is in the main town car park and it is quite a busy place. Campsites at all 4 places, but not tried any of them.

Not into campsites but last year spent a few days parked in the car park next to the swimming pool at Bourg D'Oisans. Very quite and the added attraction of the swimming pool. Did our best motor bike ever from this car park.
Lot of camp sites around Argentiere / Guillestre
