Does anyone know why the Caravan Club is making an annual payment of between £5,000 and £10,000 to David Amess MP?

To represent its interests in Parliament the same as certain labour MP's are sponsored by the trade unions.
It's a nice little earner and supplements the allowances.
Caravangate

I couldnt believe my ears on the news tonight.

The MP sleaze scandal now involves the Caravan Club!!

Is this a joke??

ATB. :D
Marvellous that the caravan club can pay poor MP's up to £10,000 of its members money simply to ask perfectly reasonable questions

Perhaps its time for the caravan club management to quit
Hmmmmm, I wonder where he would stand if facilitative legislation was being discussed in relation to promoting the creation of Aires.
Frankly why does the CC even want the question asked? They have two sites which are always full, M/H over 3.5 tonnes will not be able to get there due to the LEZ without paying £200 per day! It is an abuse of the CC members money in my opinion.

Perhaps they could have used that money (and I wonder how many years it has been paid for that he conveniently "forgot" to include it, must be so used to it!) to try to reverse the LEZ decision or consider opening a new site outside the LEZ which will be accessible (yes I know they've just opened on a while ago in the New Forest - but that's hardly local to London!
Where will it end, Members of Parliament are paid by us, the taxpayer and should not have outside interests.

I can imagine a few members of the CC choking on their sherry when they read this

Definiteley not value for money!!!!
It just goes to show hoe corrupt and dodgy our society is!!!
I dont have my copy of CC magazine in front of me but I do seem to remember HRH The Duke of Edinburough on there list of Honary members. If you then scan down you will then count at least 12 people, Generals, Admirals etc etc before you come to anyone who does any work.

These people do not do anything for nothing, only poor people do that.

You called?

I don't know about Sherry or a G & T, however, I am choking on my cornflakes after reading the article.

Penquin is right, the membership's funds would have been better spent, trying to reverse the decision on the LEZ for leisure vehicles.

Jock.
Perhaps someone from the CC committee would like to explain on the forum the reasoning for spending this money on an MP ??

I for one would be facinated to know what good has come from this arrangement over say the last 10 years ??

HELLO CC ARE YOU LISTENING ???????
Is this another brown envelope 'cash for questions' wrapped up in a different format? 8O

Good luck! I'll be interested to know their response if any. My experience has been that they do not reply to letters they don't like even when these are framed logically and politely and ask nicely for a reply. They have ignored successive letters from me about their booking system, for example. These were sent by e-mail (but in formal letter form) but I know they were read because I had an auto-reply acknowledging receipt (and promising a response within 14 days BTW). I had no replies at all other than that auto-reply.

The C&CC made an interesting contrast; I have unfailingly received rapid and polite replies from them, and in the one case where it was (just possibly) warranted this was from the Sites Director personally.

The CC did me an excellent ferry deal this year but even so this latest revelation may well persuade me to ditch them. I wonder if the C&CC has any similar "paid lobbying" arrangements? 8O
