Hi,reading another thread about Marine Parade in Dover got me thinking.
There seemed to be a number of people heading to France early in June.
I am also going,on or about the 2nd of June. My first question is how many people are heading to Normandy for the 65th anniversary,& have you been before ?
I have done most of the normal sights over the last ten years, but this time I'm going for more of the personal feel. We are staying here "Camping de Courseulles sur Mer" near Juno beach.
I have been looking at this site
www.visitnormandy.wordpress.com/tag/65-anniversary/ and have found a huge amount of information, but with limited time & only the old classic "Honda 90 Cub" to speed us about my second question is,
can anybody reccomend one or two "must see events"
I am looking this time to keep within the "British/Canadian" sector.
Thanks in advance for any replies and maybe see you on the other side.
BTW not sure if we we stay on Marine Parade   .

Hello sersol,
It seems there will be numerous parachute drops around St Mere Eglise on the 4th, 5th, and 7th. June.
I think many of these will be beside a giant bronze statue of "Iron Mike" 2 miles west on the D15 out of St. Mere beside a bridge over a river.
It's a great vantage point if you can get there early enough.

Sounds like there will be some spectacular simultaneous firework displays on the 6th. all along the coastline.

Wish I was there but Le-Mans calls.

Ray.

Hi Gary,
I guess lots.
The site shown in your earlier post gives much info but the official Tourist Office website will show more.

http://www.sainte-mere-eglise.info/

It's mostly in French with a smaller version in English.

I know there is going to be lots going on around Bayeux and that might be a good cental point to get a campsite if you haven't left it too late. The big one on the northern ring road is very large. Don't know the name or number just yet.

Found it.

Apparently Obama is only going to the American Cemetary at Coleville sur mer. It might be an idea to visit that much later.

Ray.
