I acccept I should have known this years ago but only found out just now by accident.

At the desktop (XP) e.g. type W and enter and Word opens but only if the shortcut to Word is on the desktop and begins with the W of Word.

To open a spreadsheet I have on the desktop call Villa.XLS I type vi and enter and the spreadsheet opens. VI because I have another shortcut beginning with V. So I am going to rename all my shortcuts to make it a - type one character and enter and in.

I have this feeling I am the only person in the world that never knew this.

Pusser, if you have two things on the desktop beginning with A, and you want the second one, just press A twice, etc, or you could just use your mouse/touchpad.
