Hi all,

I have decided to purchase a motorhome. I am going to be sharing with my father 50/50.

I will use if for family holidays. He will use to offer to my brother and sister for whenever they want ot use it.

I ahve decided to get a Dethleffs 6 berth with bunks. Coach class.

The specific model is the 5881HG. Now, depending on the taxes I have to pay on import (Ireland) I might need to go a year or two older to save money (I might need to pay €5-6k tax). In this case it seems I have to go for a 5880HG.

I know each van can have alot of variation on many many items but does anybody know the major difference of the 5881 over the 5880?

Was it the ALKO chassis? the double floor???

Many thanks.

5881

Hi,

Yes that's exactly what I'm saying!

The models look visually identical but I'm sure there are differences.
I did ALOT of research to choose the 5881 as my preferred model.

But, if I am going to get hit with the tax bill I will have to drop back to a 5880 to keep the total cost down.

Now when I look online most of the sites are not in English so I can't get details on what the differences area.

Anybody know?
