Just a thought I was watching this video, and I wondered if we would ever have electric police pursuit cars, I mean what if they ran out of elecktrickery?

Have it your way Pat, I'd not want to live in a world so controlled.
This makes more sense, but unless you have it on a mount pointing out of the screen (which can be an offense itself) it's no use.

Be very careful of the "I've got nothing to hide" argument.

This deals mainly with cameras, but it's all surveillance.

Good find Alan, I have loads to hide.
I just thought this a little ironic in the news today. The UK is spending £680 million to increase the car charging points across the country.
Whilst big bucks it's about the same as the UK spends on housing migrants for about 12 days.

Not wishing to point any fingers but it does put spending into perspective.

All a waste of time long term anyway, EV is not the answer only a stop gap.

That's a pity Ray.

Still if they hadn't brexited they would still have had a return agreement. They knew what they were voting for, apparently. Odd they're complaining about it then, isn't it?

Got back control by all accounts.

It's another of the political trends brexit and the campaign for leave has legitimised in the UK.

Previously a politician saying one thing a while back and the complete reverse now would have had their feet held to the fire. The press would have pestered then incessantly and asked questions about it over and over again, possibly even hounding them out of office.

Now, like so much else, it has become standard procedure and attracts little attention. Maybe one or two instances of journos asking the same question about hypocrisy of a guilty polly six or eight times in the hope of a straight answer. Then they let it go and that's the end of that.

The perfect example right now is the one of Donaldson on QT in 2019 complaining bitterly about Sinn Fein doing back then what his DUP is doing now in refusing to enter the Assembly. The circumstances are identical. He calls it undemocratic and unfair on the populace and says it needs to be prevented from happening again. Now he's doing exactly the same and I don't see any journos pointing that out.

This is quite revealing about Chinas quality control.

Just another reason not to buy a battery powered EV.

Not to buy Chinesse EVs maybe but I researched EV fires before buying my Renault and there was no meaningful data. Even now that sales of EV cars are growing there are very few fires related to EVs.
That we hear about from inside China.
I bought some BYD rechargeable AA and AAA batteries from China a few years ago and they all failed after two years.

I bought 130 lithium Ion batteries from china 3 years ago to upgrade an old electric bike, the batteries are still working like new, have held their charge all through the winter.

After 5 months, I tried to charge them the other day and they hadn't sufficiently dropped their charge for the charger to kick in.

I removed the 3 lead acid batteries, which weighed over 12 kgs, for these which come in at 7.5 kgs. It has a air/fan cooled compartment, and a battery management system.
I regularly ride the 17.5 miles to work throughout the summer.
It should be remembered that china is the whole worlds manufacturer, and rightly or wrongly makes the majority of the world products, a few bit going wrong is inevitable.

Seeing as the western world now think it is beneath them to get their hands dirty doing manufacturing, the chinese have cleaned up. If you've ever looked ant any chinese videos on YT, you know that their technology can and does compete with the best.

The proposal to include speed limiters in new vehicles that can be automatically activated isn't just for electric cars and it is already being incorporated in new cars in a number of European markets although I don't belive that automtaic activation has yet happened. Ironically I've had manually operated speed limiters on several previous cars and have found them invaluable - so easy when entering a 30mph to set it to say 31 mph or 32mph and then not worry. Ironically may current car (a Tesla) doesn't have a speed limiter. It should be an easy software update from Tesla so hoping it happens one day.
Yes Peter, our new Tin Can C3 has a speed limiter that my wife has accidently activated twice now. Its not only a pain but disconcerting.

I've not managed to switch ours on accidentally (on the electric Mini we have) but I don't often drive it. What I have though done on several occasions has been somewhat disconcerting because instead of engaging reverse on the Mini, I've put the wipers on by mistake and driven forwards with near disastrous consequences. It's because reverse on the Tesla is pushing up on the righthand steering wheel lever whilst on the Mini it is the more normal wiper control. So quite literally, I've looked in the mirrors, reversing camera etc before intending to go going backwards in the Mini and have found myself lurching forwards with the wipers on!

The van has a beep you can set and I'm in favour of that, but not of taking control.

It says the creator is a fellow biker!! I bet he is Billy no mates in the biking fraternity now! :ROFLMAO:

I bet the Rozzers rejected it because they will already be inundated with self appointed Policemen sending in all manner of stuff from their Dashcams. I might send this one in from Easter Sunday where a reckless Pigeon decided to go all road rage and go for me. He wants locking up (The Pigeon, not me). :D
