Just wondered if there was anyone had a generator, which they take away with them and could you please advise on how to big to buy one. We will be wild camping in France in September and dont want to b stuck to using the gas bottle.
It will be used for cooking and maybe watching t.v. but not at the same time.

Any help much appreciated,

Thanks Kim :)

hi kim welcome to the forum. You may not be aware but to some "generator " is a dirty word as they can be very intrusive to other motorhomers. My own personal thoughts are that generators on the whole are more trouble than they are worth, ie:- carrying another type of fuel (if you are diesel), extra weight, noise (even the quietest gennies sound really loud when your out in the wilds), security can also be a problem too. I dare say somebody will be along soon and give the opposite opinion but thats the beauty of this forum is that you get a wide variety of views on most subjects

Hi Kim,

We have a Honda EU20i - wouldn't be without it at Le Mans or Silverstone - but tend not use it anywhere else, mostly because we tend to use sites with hookup.

Don't read anything into this, but one of the sponsored advertisers on the home page of this forum are Edge Technology - who supply Honda Generators.

Ciao

generators

Hi again,

Thanks for the quick replys, i have heard that some people dont like them as they may be too noisy that's why i thought i'd ask for help on here to see what other people thought about them first.
We will be using hook up in Spain when we get there so i was wondering if it was worth spending the money on one for just a few days.
Also i have seen the one advertised in aldi, i think that's where hubby got the idea of getting one from when he saw it advertised this week.

Thanks for letting me use you as a sounding board i'll have a word with tony and see what he says when he's read all the replies.

Thanks again

I have the Honda 1000i I only use it when batteries are low. it is very quite and easy to use.
I am always very discreet when using it so as not to spoil other peoples peace and quite, so far I have had no problems at all.
