I had a nice conversation with my Insurance man today, he told me to get the van fit to use, there is nothing stopping me from using it as it still has the TÜV /MOT and is insured, the accessor didn´t say it was not roadworthy. I have put this to Matthias on a WhatsApp message and wait for his answer. Although they say the parts will soon be on the way who knows how long it will take for them to get here. 3 years ago it would have been so much easier. I really do want to have it ready for use by Easter, but as we don´t know when the parts get here it´s wise to have a plan B.

Has he given you an indication of how long it would take once the parts arrive and are these "all" the parts? What you dont want is for the parts to arrive in say a week or twos time only to find its going to take him another three months to fix it.

The parts won`t be by the dealer until next week at the earliest, the rest I have to do what I`m getting good at, waite., but if he gets it usable with the fridge working, a clean up, the batteries working. I have a couple of places to go around Easter time. Once he gets started I`m sure it won`t take him long and Roger said he will be willing to help him if necessary. A lot of the work is take off the old and put on the new.

I have just put the phone down after Matthias rang me. He has already started taking things to bits as he has to replace some of the wall where the insulation was also burnt making the wall unstable, I knew this, however he has promised he will make it useable before Easter for me, if the parts are here soon they will be replaced if not he will make the other bits legal and I´ll also have a new TÜV, at the moment he says it won't pass because there are sharp edges that must be smoothed off before going on the road because it is illegal in Germany to have sharp bits that could be dangerous to pedestrians, I do believe it´s the same in England.

Your suggestion for an email reminded me of when I fist joined the forum 8 years ago, I was thrilled to talk about the Navajo and was reporting what we were doing and where we were going, a certain person who has disappeared off the scene got stroppy with me and in a not nice way he told me to write a blog if I wanted to give all those details, I didn´t even know what a blog was. Anyway I'm still doing the same thing, unfortunately at the moment nothing to do with travel. 😁 afraid you just have to put up with me. :ROFLMAO:

Can you believe Lars has said if he can get the parts in his car he will go and fetch them from Tynevalleymotorhomes when they have them, I have told him from Dover to Tynevalley is 600 km x 2 plus the km this side and he said if he can get the parts in his car he will do it. Theres a few things he hasn’t thought out I think, one is I’m not sure if he has a passport, his German Pass works within the EU, but Not for England.

As fantastic and helpful as that sounds Jan. Its crackers. I would be making sure Autotrail have their Brexit ducks in a row to get the parts exported to Lars and making sure they pay a premium courier to deliver them as quickly as possible. Despite Brexit it shouldn't take that long. Just be mindful that its probably not something Tyne Valley motorhomes do a lot of. I expect they wont have a clue what they are doing so "manage" it for them. Be the Boss!!!!!

I’m not as cabbage as green looking, although that’s backwards 😁. Roger has already contacted them about paper work, he has had to handle that with stuff coming here from the USA for years so has a little idea what to do. I didn’t think it would work with Lars because of the passport, but what a lovely offer from him.

This morning I had a phone call from Matthias, the connection was not listenable to sounded as if he was underwater, so I went to see my Navajo.
He had taken out the fridge, there's a pipe missing from the back and the thingy board at the front is damaged, so as he said to start with, a new fridge, but he can´t get a new one the correct size, but found a second hand one on the internet in Hanover except the door opens on the opposite side and he wanted to know if that would be a problem for me, no it won't so he will get the fridge. He promised he will have it roadworthy before Easter with or without the new parts. A lot of work to do, but he will have it ready he says.

Any news from the UK side of things Jan?
I will let you know when there is Graham. I did e-mail Tynevalley on Wednesday and she said she was waiting for a call back from Auto-Trail because she had rung them asking where my parts were. Today of course Auto_Trail are closed and for the weekend.

One more step, I have, under Rogers instruction, asked Tynevalley (Amy) to send what she has if the other bit doesn´t arrive today, that can be sent on when she gets it, she has agreed so with or without, the big lot should be on it´s way very soon. I won´t get too excited, it will then be up to the carriers and the customs.

The chap (Thomas) phoned last night to confirm he will be here on Friday between 10 and 10.30, he`s leaving home at 4am. Lives the other side of Germany Leer, Ostfriesland, I think he might be a bit optimistic about his arrival time unless he drives all that way without a break. I have got everything ready that I can, all in boxes except for the really heavy chucks etc that are too heavy and clumsy for me to handle.
Day of housework today, I have been neglecting it, and shopping, must buy a cake I don`t have the time or will to make one.
