was quite getting into motorhoming again and only used the van 3 times. I spent an awful lot of money on it n the few months we had it..We have it no more as it is written off! We crashed on the M6 when the high winds threw us out of control and we crashed into a brick wall. Luckily it was very early as we had booked a cottage n Scotland and its a fair drive
We are still recovering after a month. I have a broken arm, lacerations, bruised ribs, bruised kidney and other bruising etc, but my hubby got away with a few bruises and shock of course, but he was wearing a seatbelt. However my hubby says we must get back on the horse after a fall or be forever nervous. I I have seen a nice one SEA disabled. but I am far from well enough yet to go and see it in Kent. I really don't know what I should do. Any advice would be really welcome

What you had was an extremely unlucky accident. Millions of miles are done by motorhomer every year with no more than the odd dent caused by scraping a tree when pitching.

It comes down to the question of do YOU and your OH want to continue motorhoming ? I suspect you do, otherwise you would not be even asking the question in the first place.

If the MH in Kent is what you want then go for it. If you are unable to go and look yourself are you both happy that your husband goes alone and decides ? If not, then another one will be along when you are better able to travel to see it.

I guess you will not travel in windy weather in the future but that is no barrier to having lots more excellent holidays and time will fade the memories that you have now.

Good luck whatever your decision and I hope you feel much better and more mobile very soon.

I had a serious car accident in 2000 resulting in a broken sternum and ribs along with severe bruising to various parts of my body. i like you were very unsure and didn't want to get back in a car never mind behind the wheel. I ended up taking some lessons again just to get my confidence back and while I can get a bit nervous in fast traffic I am generally okay. I believe I am more prone to being cautious which can only be a good thing. I am sure you will get over your incident it may just take time. I wish you well which ever you choose I am sure you will be okay.

sorry to hear about your accident, do hope you get over it soon. I assume that you are in Scotland by the flag with your avatar, so yes Kent is a fair way away.
Is the vehicle for sale at a dealers or private sale. If one of the members is close enough they could have a look for you to say if it is worth you travelling to see.

So sorry to read of your accident. It must have really shook you both up.
As Grizzly said, the question is really whether you want to continue. Are you ready to give it up yet? If the answer is no then give it another go.

Good luck

Have to pose the question, were you wearing a seatbelt then as your post implies maybe you were not ?

I use to have a Lunar Champ H590, which was really susceptible to high cross winds
on a few occasion sudden high gusts of wind would have you suddenly forced across onto the opposite lane of traffic, luckily roads where quite and no major incident
I have travelled in similar high wind in my Bessacarr E760 and never had a problem

The post is in MH for Disabled forum - perhaps a wheelchair user or some other reason for seatbelt use being difficult??

Cheers
