We need some help with assistance dog , my wife is a long term diabetic , and we have to cross the euro tunnel later this year , they have said we have to show all paperwork for our assistance dog to pet passport control as teddy the dog senses her diabetic lows , and goes barking loudly , and will not stop until she checks her blood and corrects it it , with milk or chocolate , once done he is fine , until next time, reason my wife has been 40 years diabetic , and symptoms come sudden with out aware ness , scary , but he is the man . now we would like to know how this works through passport control , as registered blind dogs are recognised but assistance dogs it seems are not , and how do we go about it , help please .

we all have our ailments it seems ,

all help please , and is the euro tunnel easier . we have booked it any how.

I may be missing the point here but...

I assume that your wife's assistance dog still has to have a Pet Passport and that the Rabies jab is up to date. In which case it's the same procedure as for any other dog - you just need to get the passport stamped by a vet to confirm that worming treatment has been administered and this has to be done between 24 and 120 hours prior to check in.

With Eurotunnel the dog stays with you at all times so I suspect that there is not an issue.

Hi there,
We have crossed a few times now and our assistance dog is recognised by the authorities on both sides but as Bill States above all dogs have to go through the usual passport control etc.
We've never had any problems.
