Now on our way back from Greece, now in Garda Italy and the swivel cassette toilet (thetford } is not opening or closing. The operating lever is loose. Sog unit fitted, never had a problem in a year and a half. Anyone have any info? or is it possible to get it fixed in Italy ,Switzerland or France.Thanks.

If you are staying at a campsite, ask at the office for a caravan repairer.

Most sites keep lists of essntial services.
Have you tried taking the cassette out to see if you can see anything that's come adrift?
Sounds like the lever has come loose from the sliding shutter, you should be able to re-clip it back on after removing the 6 or so cross head screws [and emptying the cassette first

Hi there,

Phil is right. It sounds as though the linkage between the lever on the side of the bowl, and the yellow knob on the cassette has come adrift. This linkage uses a plastic plate with a groove in it, operated via a metal rod which fits into a hole in the plate. There will probably be a little locking washer underneath the rod, to prevent it from popping out of the hole.
Not a major job/repair, but extremely inconvenient if not done.

HTH,

Jock.

Sorry Vic, didn't see your post until I reviewed.
Thanks to all so far.I'll have a good look tomorrow and see if the fault is obvious as suggested. Must do something or the missus will kill me>

TOMORROW!!!

I think you'll be dead long before that, if your missus can't use the loo.

Jock.
Jocks right you need to use your head and get it fixed , before she does and it won't be any use looking up at the problem from where your head is going to end

No doubt you'll apologise and tell her you're sorry for any inconvenience. :)

Seriously, I hope you are soon able to get it fixed, it's not a pleasant situation to be in.
thanks to all. Just got home. Managed to get it operational after refitting a screw that had come adrift. it's not properly fixed as i have a spare bit and will have to find a diagram and try to figure it out. I was unable to get an internet connection after the first few posts. Many thanks again. Doug.

Hi Doug,

Things weren't that dire then, otherwise you wouldn't still be alive, to give us an update.
Glad to hear the the complications with your Thetford, didn't spoil your holiday.

Cheers,

Jock.
