Hi

Does anyone else think the new blinds fitted to hymers are no where near as good quality wise as the old ones. We had old ones replaced(apart from main roof blind) by Brownhills as part of warranty. We bought the MH in Germany and had such a struggle getting Brownhills to do the work(eventually getting Hymer Germany to write to Browhills). After 2 years and 3 trips to Brownhills(telling us on 2 of those trips that they had been sent the wrong blinds after we got there, having to book time off work etc). There is still the main roof blind to do. Anyway my main point is that the quality of the new blinds are no where near as good as the original ones. The material on the new ones is much thinner and more flimsy, we have looked at lots of new Hymers and they all have these flimsy ones fitted, the old ones had blotches on but this was only cosmetic. We really wished we hadn't bothered with all the hassle. Brownhills have said they now want our van for a few days to make sure they get the correct blind(we originally sent photos of them all from various angles). We have decided not to bother getting the last one fitted, have just noticed that the new windscreen blind has a couple of pin holes in it. Hambiltons said(when it went for hab check recently) that we should inform dealer about this, we really cant bothered. We really wish that we had left the original ones in place. Others beware if you have the blotchy blinds and a hymer.

Interesting to read of your problems.

We purchased our van from Belgium, after being told by Hymer Germany that Hymer UK would resolve any warranty issues. What a laugh. When we visited Bad Waldsee the Warranty Manager said he was well aware of the issues concerning Hymer UK. He had written to them and expected an improvement!

However, before our visit to Germany, after waiting months for an appointment with Hymer UK, we contacted Germany and they agreed to pay our fuel costs to Preston (we were travelling from Torbay, a 600 mile round trip). These we eventually got. However, the money had to come to us via Hymer UK and, of course, they sat on the cheque. They kept saying it was in the post. However, we only received it by return when we threatened County Court action.

If you want a chat about this, send us a pm and we will let you have our phone number.
