Hi all,
I am new to motorhomes and new to this forum.
We recently bought a hymer van 512, a 2008 registered. Been away in it a couple of times, so we're still learning the ropes. We have a lot to learn yet so any help or advice will be much appreciated.
Thanks

Hi and welcome Bertie

Whereabouts have you been so far? any more trips planned?

This is a great forum for knowledge and experience and if we can't help we can usually suggest someone/some business who can.

So far we've been to maidenhead, lake district and Friday we're off to Southampton.
Only stayed at on campsite and Friday we won't be at a campsite, so a little wild camping so far but we're looking to visit campsites more in the future. Only had overnite stays so far, we're still learning.
Many thanks for your contact.

There are quite a few active travellers on the forum and we tend to cut across all types of camping: those who like staying at sites; those who like the smaller club Certified Locations (CL's and CS's); wilding etc etc...plus any mix of the above.

Any foreign travel in your thoughts? Again, that can work out well as there is usually a greater tolerance for sensible wilding abroad plus a huge network of cheap/free overnighting places for example like those called Aires in France..with the same in different countries but called different names.

NB The aires I mention above are not to be confused with motorway aires in France where most advice is to try and avoid them overnight.

We tend to favour sites with the odd aire/stelplatz/CL thrown in too.

You're right about great places in the UK. One year I had a very pleasant trip which I dubbed my Elizabethan Progression (!) which involved a lot of National Trust and English Heritage sites.
