Hi this is my first post on the forum.

I found this device when preparing my van after the winter. We only got it last year but do not know its precise purpose. I assume that its to do with the Gaslow system we have installed but i have no documentation or information. Have had a look on the web but not found anything. Can anyone give me some information perhaps?

Thanks for your help.

Hello and welcome to the Madhouse

I think this is a water level controller so its telling you the fresh or waste water level in your fresh or waste tanks.

You will probally find that now you know its there it will show the level in your fresh tank. Try it when you are filing up etc or when emptying the waste tank.

GMS are a fairly large company selling devices to industry for remote monitoring of water levels so its a fair bet this is what it is.

If you can see something bolted onto the gas bottle thats another matter but if theres nothing in the gas locker then its a fair bet its water level related

That is usually a Gas Level indicator that shows the contents of a Gas tank or bottle - its the older type as they are now 9 LED ones but i'm unsure how it will work with a Gaslow system as it needs a sender being connected to the bottles or Tank and gaslow don't have the facility to put a remote float gauge sender on their bottles.

Perhaps it actually one of our GAS IT Plus bottles or tank or one of chris's Alugas bottles or tank.

All i would say is make sure its connected to some kind of switch so that it turns off when not in use otherwise your battery will go flat with the current draw.

By the way, the small top led at the top that looks like its not working ( next to the sun logo ) is actually an automatic dimmer sensor so that the LED's go dim at night and brighten up in the light

Gas Level Indicator

Hi Nick, thanks for your reply. There is a wire I have discovered now coming from the top of the cylinder. I think that you are correct in that the tank is a red one which looks like a Gas IT type rather than a Gaslow which I originally thought it was. The Motorhome is a Burstner Aviano so not sure if it was factory fitted or not. The point about draining the battery is a pertinent one because I do have a battery drain issue at the moment. So It looks like I will need to fit a switch. Do you know which wire I will need to break into to do this?
Kind regards
Jeremy

The older 5 LED units we supplied a few years ago to the OEM's like Auto Sleepers, IH and others are all badged GAS IT as per the picture below but its basically the same units as the one in your picture - For info, we updated it to a 9 LED version some time ago which is again badged GAS IT.

Anyway, the red wire on your LED gauge is the 12 volt live feed so that's the one you need to put a switch in to turn it on and off.

The black wire is the earth

The blue wire is the signal wire from the sender unit on the GAS IT tank or GAS IT Plus Bottle.

Hope that helps?

Nick.
