Hi
I have just received the latest Lidl news letter and they have this suitcase type kit. We are just down sizing and the new MH does not have a dish. We have hardly used the sky box in our current van but have watched local news in Italy and France. As we have less room and don't want to go to the expense of a roof mounted dish though this may be worth while. Has anyone tried one ? What can we expect to receive and how far south?

I would be interested in this too!!!!!!!!!

Seen the ad. Says no Freeview or subscription channels???? what to do? Any good???
Bargain
Looks the same as the one from maplins (rebranded)
I paid £70 for last year
You get the freesat channels with the receiver supplied

We use the LIDL box with our Oyster dish and get as many channels as we want or need. You will not get any Sky subscription channels but we found BBC streaming channels and could watch F1, rugby etc. on those in Southern Spain and Portugal even though we had been told we would not be able to. Cannot say how the little dish will perform around the edges of the footprint but we had one before buying our Oyster and got all we required in UK and Ireland with it, never tried it abroad. Excellent bit of kit, especially at LIDL price, Good luck with it, Alan.

It cannot receive Freeview channels as Freeview is a brand name for UK digital TV channels through and aerial. It also cannot receive freesat channels as the freesat branded channels are only available using a freesat branded box. What it can receive is the channels that are free to air, this would include the same channels as freesat but without the branding.
Companies have to be very careful about their advertising because they are being sued and prosecuted too often for a minor slip.

Have they got any left, as I mentioned these Lidl Sat systems the week before the bank holiday, I didn't see any in Lidl at the weekend either.

.
They don't arrive in our local shop until Monday 8th June.

Odd.

I was seriously thinking of getting one as it looked to be very good for the money, all in a grey plastic box, but we have enough junk we don't use already.

Kev.

On thinking about it, it could have been in Aldi, as we went in both on the same day.
Bought one two years ago from Lidl, so if they have used the same supplier then it is a Camos kit rebranded for Lidl. The only real problem is the lack of spares, although it does come with a 12month warranty. The 240v power converter for mine packed up a few weeks ago and I had to buy a new set top box complete!
Camos importers in UK are:- satgear.co.uk
look at their web-site and compare pictures and photos with the Lidl leaflet.
Sorry, dipstick me. Not Camos, read COMAG Handels AG.

Box I bought was the Comag SL 30/12. Works on 12v as well as 240v.
My advice:

Buy as many as they'll allow you to.

Get there at 8am Monday to stand a chance of getting one.

Wear some stout clothing to avoid injury in the crush.

If you end up not using it you can flog it on Ebay for £50 easily.
The stick on sucker looks less substantial than the Aldi one, so dont know how well it will stick.
Saw one in Aldi this morning - £64.99. Nearly bought one but short of time. Will try for Lidl one now on 8th.

3 year warranty. Yes they do work and they are getting cheaper all the time. How do they do it? :?
Just got one from aldi (drat!) It looks the same for half price. Got mine out the box put it on the window sill pointed at the sat, works a treat. I got one of the astra sats but not the one with english channels so I have got to have a practice on the M/H.

Hi,

Sounds like you have Astra 19.2 East. If you move it a bugs doodahs anti-clockwise you should get the Astra 28.2 Signal that I presume you was looking for.

I found these a real doddle to "lock on" to a good signal. They are a great bit of kit and the STB box alone is worth the money (thats all I bought mine for).

Good Luck
Sounds like the bargain of the decade!!!!

Anyone know if it comes with the doobry to find the satalite with????
Knowing my abilities with electrical gubbins you will see me wandering all over the place waving it around like a flag to find a signal!!!!!!!

Ever seen me try to get a signal on the freeview with the standard aerial on the roof of our van??? Have given up completely - never used it in the 6 months we have had the van :? :?

If anyone at Stratford this weekend can enlighten me on the dark arts of this freeview kit - we will forever be in their debt

Cheers Kev - but how does one find a satalite 8O 8O
When I stand in my back garden I cannot see them :(
Do you think it could pick up ARTE on French TV (no idea what satalite it is on  - but would make Flo a very happy bunny if we could pick it up)?
Now that you need a boffin, and that I aint.

Kev.
