Off on our annual Europeon trip on Thursday. Want to make a short first day so intend to stay at or near Montreuil Sur Mer, anyone know a decent campsite or aire near the town.
Hi, we stayed on a nice but very small site just outside the town walls in October 2007. It was a short walk into town and the town centre was lovely. The approach road to the campsite was a bit tight if you've got a large motorhome. Can't remember the name of the site sorry but I'm sure you'll find it if you Google Montreuil.
The Montreuil we stayed at was called Montreuil sur mer even though it wasn't anywhere near the sea I suppose in years gone by in was and the sea has receded.
Can someone (original poster?) please alter the thread title to the correct spelling of MONTREUIL otherwise a search would never find it.
It does sound like a very useful site.
Just returned from France and generally spend the first night there (fortnight ago) when travelling south/southwest. Site is ideal for ease of stopping after coming off the ferry at Calais. The pitch shown with the folder caravan/camper (no 39) is our favourite as its just inside site opposite toilet block. Only time we have had problems getting in on spec was last Thursday, made a stupid a mistake and did not realise that it was a public holiday in France.
Hi.
We have used this site (La fontaine des clerks) a few times and found it to be good - even heated toilet blocks in the winter. About 3/4 hr drive from Calais.
A very useful thing to note is the opening period: Opening period: 02/01 up to and including 31/12
