If you are a member of the RAC they will only cover your car or motorbike etc but if you join the caravanning and camping club and ask for a reference number then phone back the rac they will cover your motorhome for no extra cost and even come and pull you out should you get stuck in a muddy field.
Great isnt it. I phoned the rac to see if we were covered and they said join the c c club and we will be, we are already members of the caravan club so are now members of both.

I believe being members of the C&CC over-rides their normal limit, but there may still be a limit above the length of our van - 7.4m

I already belonged to the rac, when I phoned they asked the length of our motorhome and I said it is about 23ft. the person said it wasnt covered by our normal break down cover with htem but if I join the caravan and camping club and phone them back with reference number after explaining why I am joining the club, the rac will then cover me for no extra cost. and they have, I have been sent a new card which has added the " arrival" to it.

It is worth giving them a ring. in fact once I had joined the CC Club they just put me through to the rac so they must all be entwinned.

To be fair it's not free motorhome breakdown cover. You have to pay the membership fees for the CC and the RAC package you want.

Yes its a bit like my five year free habitation services voucher, you have to buy the motorhome first!

I would check exactly what your motorhome is covered for. Out of interest how much is your rac membership package?

Breakdown Cover

I looked into this recently when my insurance came up. In the end I got a good quote from Sureterm for £320 which included european cover, it saved me about £150 from my renewal quote, and gives me about 50% more cover on valuables etc (and the policy tells me that of the total the actual insurance permium paid to the insurer is only £130!!). And they were very nice people. I recommend them.
One well known specialist insurance company I called told me that last year they had a +100% claims record, and they are tied to a single boker which meant that they could never price match or price beat!!

Anyway. AA and RAC only cover over 3m high vehicles through their commercial or fleet services. So the CC can do it presumably because they must have a fleet policy agreement.

My AA car cover is about £140.....

Britannia told me they would do my 2 cars with homestart and motorhome with 3 month european for £99.

When my AA renewal is up I am going to take a Britannia policy and then my insurance will be even cheaper next year!

I already had the top package for our vehicles which I think was £120 something pounds, I have always had the relay and recovery cover because I travel a lot of miles myself with my car and I included my husband.

I used to be with Brittania some years back but had to leave them and join the RAC Arrival scheme through C&CC. Reason was that Brittania have size and weight limits (can't remember what they were now but I had an under 6M van at the time). I'd double check with them if these limits have been lifted.

In that case sounds like you've got a good deal

I'm looking around at breakdown cover at the moment but not really interested in joining the C&CC.

'van' cover is available from the RAC for an additional £10 ...

They (RAC) did try to persuade me to join the C&CC ... but I prefer the CC and their Red Pennant for Europe
