Hi Everyone

We have took the plunge and booked our ferry crossing from Dover to Dunkerke, with Norfolk line. The toatal cost for going out on 14/09/05 @ 01:45 and returning on 27/09/05 @ 02:00 is an astonishing £38.00. Our van is a Hymer C Class 21.42ft long and 9.61ft high.

A very good price, pity all our trips are booked for this year. Apparently we will be able to book for next year after the summer. It will be interesting to see what the prices are then.
Have a great trip.

Its interesting to an old shipping hand why Norfolk should be following this strange pricing policy. It can not be profit seeking as they do not need to depress rates to that extent to get extra traffic.

Norfolk is a small subsidiary of the enormous Maersk Line.Maersk Sealand as it is now known after buying the US largest container carrier has steadily traded and purchased most other large container fleets off the oceans. They now only have one global competitor MSL.

I can only think they have a target in view to force off the channel and as P&O are only luke warm about Dover/Calais perhaps they are the target.

Anyway i feel sure that in the long run it will not be advantageous to the travelling public. So make hay should the sun ever shine again.

Anyone on holiday in the Essex /Suffolk area can see really large Maersk container vessels most days berthing at Felixstowe from either Shotley Marina or Harwich. Not happy reversing that motorhome into a tight spot.??..Come and watch these at work.Learn and Marvel. Just travelled with them, and couldn't fault the service.

The big + apart from the price, is the fact they let you change your sailing times/dates without charge.
