Hi all as I said in another post I was on holiday and had a fuel filter housing unit problem got it sorted with your help now after all the bumping down roads in Ireland I noticed the floor has sunk around an inch and there is a big gap between it and the floor looks like the floor under the van was rotten and with the weight of the leisure battery and something I think has something to do with the heating on that side and a few things we has stirred it's only when we lifted the seat to unload we noticed the damage can any one recommend what I can do please the motorhome is a bessacarr e495

Oh dear that doesn't sound good at all.

Can you post some photos on here as there are one or two folks who maybe able to offer some advice. Failing that there are specialised forums for self build motorhomes who may be able to help.

Do you think it is something you are able to tackle, by this I mean are you the practical type?

He says its a Bessacarr e495 above and I just spotted 2007 on another thread.

We had a 2008 e795 but never experienced these problems.

You might be lucky if it's just a small timber section that's rotten. I was horrified MOT before last when the inspector found about a two foot square hole in the timber right where the oven was. Not part of the test but he showed me it anyway. Looked bad but an Easy fix by my motorhome fix it man.

Oh dear, I feel for you! Pics would help folk maybe give better advice. I do hope it's as Barry says, an easy fix.

Did you buy privately or thro a dealer? If the latter, was there a damp check done before sale? A warranty?

Yes i will get pictures this week and post them up I think there might have been a leek around the window and it ran down the inside of the wall and rotted the bottom of the frame that holds the wall to the floor that's just a thought as I only got bit last year and it seemed ok till we went on the long trip as I said would like to try to fix it myself but I would need help to see what way the floor frame is put together I put all my savings into buying it and don't have a lot for a big repair that's way I'm going to try to fix it first

If / when you take it apart, and I strongly suspect the problem will be bigger than you expect, make sure that you have the MH in a dry environment to ensure all exposed woodwork is thoroughly dried, then treat it for every form of nasty that you can think of, before scarfing in new pieces of treated wood to replace that which is questionable.

Your biggest problem may be getting replacement wall panels - the manufacturer MIGHT be willing to help, but will probably insist on going via a registered dealer (been there, done that, been delayed for 6 weeks). If you are willing toNOT find matching wall panels, FleaBay may be able to help with similar items.

Do take lots of pics., not only for your own satisfaction, but to show to any prospective buyer if / when you decide to sell.

Oh the joys of motorhomes. Our first 26ft. RV needed just about everything repairing inc bodywork, engine, suspension, brakes, electrics, carpets and plumbing.
After nine months of doing pretty much everything ourselves I thought I knew quite a lot about RV maintenance.
Three years later we sold it and scouted around for a replacement. We then found a 36ft. TEC and a whole new set of problems. Another nine months and once again we thought we had covered just about everything that could go wrong. Until the next one ..................

1st picture is the crack from the inside when I pulled back the cables the other ones is the underside as you see I dont know how to reattach the floor to the wall will have to try to cut out rotten wood and replace the underneath floor just need advice on how to fix it also might be hard to see but floor has dropped about an inch in that corner do i use a bottle jack to lift the floor when I replace the bad bit on the underside of the van thanks for any help I look forward to any replays
Ps the shadow in the ist picture is of me it's not damp

Looking at those photos it doesn’t look a easy fix by any means and certainly needs a very capable diy person. I would also make sure you can find out the cause of where the water ingress has come from.

Had it a year last week no got it private when I got it I looked round it no problem but as I said rough roads showed the problem that was under the lineo

Thanks for sharing the pictures, they do not look an easy fix to me, but that could well be reflectingmy inability rather than the actual difficulty of the task.

I would not comment on how difficult it will be to sort out as that must depend on your level of expertise but I would wish you the best of luck. The gap evident in the picture with the pipe may well reflect why it appears soft in places but the recurved coating must show the evidence f damp. Has this ever been picked up in damp surveys ?

You say you suspect a window has been leaking not an unlikely, even so that needs to be checked and if so remedied before doing the floor, it might be the leak has just run down the inside of the wall in this case fix the leak properly and it should just dry out, but it might have leaked between the inner and out parts of the wall this is serious as it could track quite widely, as for the floor not seeing it is a real problem, could you take a picture from further away so we can see how large an area the problem covers.

I would think that the problem possibly extends to both sides of the van, but in any case you don't want a joint in the middle of where you walk, hopefully it's just on one side and can be sorted under one of the seats/sofas, the thickness and type of sheet you use is important if you want it to last you out or if its a fix and flog repair.

I might also suggest you get friendly with a decent joiner failing that maybe get one to come around and quote for the job and if expensive ask a lot of questions on method and materials.

It will be fixed up to keep and I checked it's only that side the leak mush have been fixed long ago as the rotten wood is bone dry and crumbling not damp or wet I'm getting extreria grade ply I will keep you all informed when I get all the bits together to do it
