Does the heater have to be full of water for the pilot light to stay lit.?

I've changed the thermocouple but it still wont stay in.

Cheers

water heater

If my memory serves me right ( its a long time ago that I had one of those water heaters} there has to be pressure in the system ie water pump on with water in the heater.

Boiler

Sussed it.

There's a button on the left-hand side that when pressed, cleans the pilot.

The pin can jam in and this stops the pilot from staying lit.

WD40 & moved in & out a few times & all OK now.
