I am considering the possibility of a meet for all motorhomefacts members, no details researched at all yet :)

Just wanted to know if members would attend and what areas of the country you are in ?

It would possibly around End of April / May time

Good idea.
I'm sure we would try and fit it in during one of our fleeting visits to this Country :-({|= :)

Hi nukeadmin

The National Motorhome Show is at East of England Showground Peterborough 23rd 24th and 25th April, 2004 although you can arrive on the 22nd if you are camping.

Warners Group Publications seem to organise the event and looking in the recent Motorcaravan Motorhome Monthly publication [MMM] I have found an information telephone no of 01778 391123.

The York Motorhome Show is organised by the same people and is about the 18th September, 2004.

Kens idea of one of the smaller shows is a good idea IMO as people tend to have their routines at the bigger ones

Think it would depend "when" for most to fit in with an already booked schedule. We travel to most places except the far south east/west .

Being realistic it has to be somewhere central for the convenience of all In site terms, as an example, the C&CC Site at Kingsbury Water Park is close to the major motorways and easy to access(not suggesting this just using as a very convenient point for all parts except Scotland)

if you get in touch with the organzer's then they will set a peice of the rally field out for you, ie as per hymer club, autosleepers, MCC etc. at the moment i cannot attend any shows this year as i work as a DJ on sat nights, but if you are organizing your own meet then there is a lot to consider ie: insureance fire points safe parking of units, unless it was a informal meet at a registered site and then would there be enough space availiblethere is a lot to organize as they say been there and done it. never again,( it was a national car show) months of headaches sorry calypso :?

If we had a rally, then it would have to be at a proper site infromally as we do not hold an excemption certificate, nor as pointed out do we have the necessary insurance.
This is no problem though as other forums have or had rallies.

One of the benefits of you all putting your location on the profiles is a proper judgement could be made on where the best location was.

I've got to agree with Dodger, that if people put more information in their profiles it will make it easier to make an informed decision as to the location within the UK.

I am going to be adding some more fields properly to the profiles soon, i.e. Motorhome Brand, Motorhome Model, anything else I should add to help people locate people ?

Like the idea of a rally, - which is going some 'cos we are just so unsociable

re information, how about something on job / special interest or similar.
my response to the question is probably nil, but i note that dodger has been [is] involved with disability / ergonomics layouts n aids, and steve is a whiz on anything techie, calypso is a dj and nuke is a webbie man who thinks he's gonna go fulltiming  :p ???

yeh twooks i've noticed at some of the big shows that when vans are on the road then peoeple wave or flash their lights, but as soon as they get on the showground then they tend to ignore you, must be worse when you are

on your own. calypso :diabloanifire:

yeah, we've always avioded rallys, they always seem so cliquey, I know dodger says that some are ok, but the ones that we've shared a site with are such that I would pay not to attend :?
when it happens in mainladn europe there is an assumption by campsite reception that you are with the other brits - it can take some explaining away

I agree with calypso regarding all the flashing of headlights and waving ....

I went to a show early last year on my own and camped in the general area and campers close by passed the time of day and eventually a crowd of us joined in conversation even hooted their horns and waved when they left the show for home. :D

Later in the year I went to another show with my daughter this time I decided to rally with a club I had joined and although we sat outside and said hello to every one close by and attempted conversation we were ignored!! :?

Needless to say we will not join that club again.
