Protimeter industry standard moisture meters for caravan and motorhome owners, the Protimeter aquant on the left is the none invasive RF radio frequency type use on floors and walls and inside cuboards and roofs. The analogue Protimeter image to the right has the two pins and also a remote pin head adapter which is used for under rubber seals and around apertures and internal corners of cuboards the pin meter can be held remotely away from the inspection area and the remote cabled head placed on the inspection area enabling an easy read of the meter, record your finding on the correct dated image sheet. One can still submit their motorhome for its annual moisture ingress inspection as investing in a Protimeter is just good housekeeping and preventative maintenance, partners are always stuck for birthday presents drop a hint you may get one for nowt.

I had a look at protimeters online. I do have the prong type but would be interested in the non-invasive one. Apart from one they seemed incredibly expensive (which might explain the high fees for a damp inspection!) - would this one do? It says it can be used for Wall, Masonry, Soft Wood And Hard Wood so I'm guessing not? My MH is 2017 Hymer which I think has no wood, in the walls anyway.

Hi, the prong type by definition one does have to pierce the material which is to be tested ever so lightly which would leave pin holes but does have a place in the inspection routine, the none invasive Protimeter aquant or serveymaster are industry standard, as used by the caravan industry so there can be no conflict should there be a difference of readings, gumtree and cash converters often have them at a more affordable price, YouTube has videos of a typical inspection.:)

I’m not sure these will be accurate. I have one which I used for woodworking, but it is for solid wood, while most “woodwork“ in a M/h will be composite, often faced with vinyl. It also leaves pin marks, which is ok on planks which are to be worked on but not on finished work unless you can access a part out of sight.
