We're fairly new to motorhome-ing and loving it so far. Problem is, we'd love to spend more time away during Nov - Mar but finding there are few sites open over this period. We stay near Edinburgh, love the Lakes District, but have yet to find a good selection of winter sites. Anyone got some recommendations?

I have stayed on Skelwith Fold Caravan Park which is in a nice setting and has a conservation award. It wasnt dear for a commercial site.
Its listed as Ambleside ( email: [email protected])
The club sites in the South Lakes are mostly ok and dont seem as busy as they were a few years ago. Its heaving down and the directories are in the van so I cant name them just at the moment.
We have also used some five van sites that represent good value for money in Cumbria

I think that the CC site at Grange and C&CC site at keswick are open all year, plus Wild Rose Appleby i think they have a web site probably
www.wildrose.co.uk, it's been several years since we were there but i seem to remember a pub within walking distance
there's also a place in the centre of Dent that I think is open all year round - but does that qualify? it's called Laning farm or some similar. and at least one of the NT sites in Langdale is supposed to be open through winter - for all the hardy types.
any good, let me know and I'll look for more info. 8)
