Hi

Off to Slovenia in July/ August. Looking to enter the country from Italy and so has anybody got advice on good campsites in Western Slovenia which would be good for a family break. Found Camping Bled which looks lovely. Any suggestions really welcome.

Thanks

Nice campsite Lake Bled, not stop there, but walked around it 4yrs ago.
Was stopping in the hotel at the other end of the Lake.Take your waterproofs with you,it never stopped raining for the whole last week of July.Personally i found the place depressing,i was 57 at the time, and we were the youngest in our hotel, by at least 10 years.
Nice scenery though
Hi Matt;

I can't recommend any myself but there are 14 in our Stoppover database, all visited personally by our members  .....

SLOVENIA CAMPSITES

We stayed there for 10 days last year very large site over a 1000 pitches very well looked after very friendly staff good restaurant on site.

Good supermarket couple of three miles away plenty of organized event well away from most of the pitches plenty to see in the area one of the biggest caves I have ever been in you need to take a train ride just to get inside
Hi Matt,

Which way are you coming? Tarvisio or Trieste?
I live in Bled so I would recommend the campsite here. Another good one is Camping Sobec (5 km from Bled), Bohinj (another lake), some nice ones in the Soča Valley ...
Are you interested just in the western part?

Cilka
I can recommend Camping Radvoljica.

I've just tried to enter the details into the database, but not sure if it has to be vetted by moderator as I cannot see it yet.
Yes, that's a nice one as well - also 5 km from Bled , by the pool. Smaller and cheaper than Bled, I think.
I think it takes up to 24 hours for the moderator to approve the entry.

Thanks for all the comments - much appreciated. A question for Cilkad.

We are coming from venice. We tend to avoid motorways usually as we have the time to go on the smaller roads and so see more of the country, so is the non motorway road up to Bled an easy drive?

Thanks

Your suspicions are correct Zozz, it goes into the murky depths first to be approved by admin.

You should see the entry by the morning unless they are all down the pub enjoying themselves tonight, if so there might be a slight delay

Take the road towards Udine then Tarvisio and you come to Slovenia near Kranjska Gora. You will be able to enjoy changing of the scenery from the flat area and the Mediterranean climate to the Alpine region with rivers and waterfalls. Again, you can take the old road (not the motorway) to Bled or any other places.
Should you need more detailed instruction, I'll have a look at the road numbers.

Thanks Cilka - very useful. Quick question - what is the weather usually like in July/August - I've read the odd article that it rains quite a lot?

Thanks

matt
The weather in July and August should be good and quite hot. In the Alpine area we sometimes have afternoon showers. I saw some people swimming in the lake today.

Well, it does happen that it's rainy and it seems that somebody was just unlucky.

Cilka
