It's our last full day today at this site so I thought I'd share my views on it Camping Mar Menor | Parcelas y Bungalows en primera línea de playa | Murcia
Pros
Cons
On balance, we would certainly come here again I think.
Pros
- Large standard pitches at 90sqm (and they are 9m x 10m too) at €18 pn plus the option of even larger pitches at €22 pn. NB These prices do not include electricity which is €0.55 per Kwh. All pitches have water to them. All prices quoted are 2023 prices.
- Excellent restaurant, probably the best food we have had on any Spanish campsite
- Direct access to a beach which then leads to a costal boardwalk down the cost to other beaches.
- Very friendly helpful reception
- Freshly baked bread available at €1 per baguette
- Free wifi
- Reasonable priced car hire locally (€90 for 3 days with the car dropped off and collected)
- Very clean and newish facilities block. The blocks appear to be cleaned at least twice a day and even on Sundays. Epic-ly hot showers.
- Spanish gas cylinder exchange at €21
- Quiet at night: none of the ubiquitous dogs or cockerels which seem to have noise making contests like at some places we have stayed!
- Good mix of nationalities with not too many Brits!
- Good internal roads for MH manoeuvring
Cons
- Its around 2Km to the nearest supermarket so do a big shop before you come if you don't want to move your unit plus it may be an idea to have bikes for any top ups. The site does have a small supermarket but we haven't been in there so can't comment.
- The site is next to a military airport which trains pilots. As such there is noise from 8.00am most week days until early afternoon. Not at weekends though. It didn't bother us and is quite interesting to watch we thought. Last night was the first night in our time here that they did some evening/night practice but it finished by 9.30pm.
- The pitch water supply needs a male 1/2 thread attachment. It's unlike any I have seen before and obviously causes problems as the site office sells male/male adaptors for €3 a piece! I carry a bag of water attachments with me so managed to make up the arrangement in the piccy below (the left hand side connect to the water) . It would be worth sourcing a male/male 1/2 and Hozelock type adaptor to go on it before you come (or indeed a 1/2 inch male to Hozelock outlet if available). NB The white stuff on the black adaptor is my is my PTFE tape
On balance, we would certainly come here again I think.
