Whatever does he need 12 pairs for and surely It’s just the frames not including the lenses, they cost a fortune.
You can get reading glasses (to a standard prescription, both lenses the same) for very little money Jan - used to be around £2.50 in the likes of Boots.

I used to get mine in Poundland when bot my eyes were long sighted. Now I get them from Glasses Direct to a prescription which works out about 50 quid or so for 2 pairs
We bought quite a few 'cheaters' when in the states some 16 years ago for around $2 each some tinted. Still using them now after cataracts done, must have 10 or 12 pairs dotted about the house and cars.

I also had a pair in every room and in the car (2 pairs in the MH) plus in each of my jackets...when they were a quid each!

At 25 quid each I now manage with only 4 pairs!

I still have several pairs of reading glasses from a time when I didn´t need distance, the £2.00 type, I aim. no. waiting for my new lenses, verifocal for 540€
