Towing a Landrover in France and Spain

Hello

I'm off to Spain in june in my converted truck for a few months and wanted to tow my Discovery behind. I've been looking at A frames and dollies but don't know the laws about towing through France? Just wondering if anyone could let me know if you have to have front wheels off the ground or not? I am pretty sure that in Spain you have to have front wheels off the ground which would mean a dolly? cheers

IMHO I think considering the weight of a Disco a proper braked vehicle trailer would be more appropriate and not bring you to the attention of the Gendarmes. Assuming your 'Truck' IS a truck
I am sure dollies are for recovery only

A frame with brakes possible (wont go into legal argument)

Will your vehicle cope with weight
what is its rated train weight

will definitely cope with the weight it's a 7 and half ton lorry converted.

towing

hi derekk111
i have a four wheel ifor williams transporter for sale trailer number ct136ta
Watch out for License implications, a car license will only take you to 8-25 tonnes max train weight, above you will need a C or if you tow a landy a C+E

(from memory only)
Dolly is illegal except for recovery. Would an A frame be able to take the weight?

You are going to need a proper 4 wheel transporter trailer,
The disco, being 4WD will not take kindly to being towed for any length of time, on its own wheels !!
Also, as Loddy points out, makes sure you have the correct licence groups,
We used to run a 7.5 tonner with 2.5 ton of trailer and IIRC also a C+E ? is needed to cover up to 12 ton train weight
