trouble with my garmin zumo 550

hi there, I am trying to load the following coordinates into my sat nav

N 46,45976' E 8,94201 which is in switzerland

My sat nav believes it is in the netherlands

any idea what I'm doing wrong

do i need to format my zumo to the swiss grid, but then this cannot be coz when i try to do this, the keyboard only gives me the ability to put in numbers & will NOT allow me to put in any letters

hi phill,
when you say "it thinks its in switzerland" what do you mean? and what are you trying to do with the entering of the co ordinates? save them to your favorites or something or just looking to see what happens! :roll:

have you tried the following web site as they are really helpfull.

I have the nuvi 550 basically the same but cheaper

those are d coordinates of a swiss campsite

i tried to type them into my zumo and zumo wanted to take me to eindhoven in holland!!!!!!!!!!!

have tried enter ing your coordinates but unable to enter E
I can check coordinates on google

have tried doing a search on net with coordinates and they are correct

changed grid system over to swiss system entered numbers only , worked fine but you cant enter last digits :roll: .

ie 46.4597
08.9420
try this to see if it works, have tried to search net for all the world wide grid system breakdowns but its to heavy for a sunday pm .

after sun and wine etc.

will get my head round it in the week

only address i hv is, acquarossa,CH-6716/ Tessin

hi again, i figured it out,

press coordinates, then format, then hddd.ddddd' & then ok
this allows coordinates to be put in in decimal form

I think you will have to change the coordinates from the decimal you have to degrees minutes seconds. I found a converter at www.fcc.gov/mb/audio/bickel/DDDMMSS-decimal.html. I entered them on my Zumo 550 using the format hddd mm ss.s. They plotted to a location near San gottardo/Lucomagno Biasca.Hope this helps. Chasper.
