Hi All.
Is anyone going to the Saddleworth contests this year? If you are then where do you stay, as we can't seem to find anywhere nearby.

Also, which is the best venue to visit as there are quite a few to choose from.

Hi ThePrisoner

We will be in Amboise for the French Open brass band competition that weekend along with about 30 other MHF members so we won't be joining you in Saddleworth. I have just googled your question though and came up with this website which seems to have some useful info and some suggestions for where to stay, sorry if you have found it already:

Hope it is of some help.

There is a CL in Greenfield but that will be booked up.

There are no other sites nearby. I would either try Holme Valley Caravan Park at Holmfirth ( Last of the Summer Wine fame ! ) but that is a 10 mile drive over Saddleworth Moor. Hollingworth Lake is about as far away.

There is a small campsite at the Carriage House
www.carriage-house.co.uk which is right at the top of the A 62
between Oldham and Marsden, but I reckon I would chance
wildcaming. There are loads of places to park up. You can be sure that
no one will worry about a wildcamper on Whit Friday

I would go to Delph for the contest, Uppermill tends to be the busiest and
Dobcross is probably the most picturesque.

Happy Days !!!
