I'm now thinking again of upgrading the spare PC to Win 11.
But I'm a little concerned about being able to reinstall the Windows Photo Viewer and my ageing Office 2007 on it.
I know I can 'roll back' but then thats just a waste of time. Any ideas guys n Galls.?
And no I'm not going the '365' route.

Have you done the test to see if W11 will go on it Ray? Good luck with office 2007!!

Actually it might work but it poses security risks. Better with one of the freebie offices if you don't want to pay for 365.

Windows 11 is a right pia to bypass creating a Microsoft account also but it might be ok on an upgrade. Pc needs to be less that about four years old though I think.

Yes Baz both my Lenovo ThinkCentre M720q's get the OK message from Microsoft.
I have been hesitating up to now but as the second hand PC is really only used as storage and downloading sat nav maps when the new one is busy, I was thinking of giving it a try.

I've got an HP Z840 workstation and have just upgraded to Windows 11 a week ago. It had unsupported processors but I upgraded anyway. I like it. not that different to windows 10 but a bit more mobile device like. Very stable and reliable.

Sadly no GG as I stopped my subscription to Computer Active this year when the postage went up to £85. I might renew next year to catch up with the latest.

Found the update date, September 20th so I will wait untill then.
Ray, if you have a British library card you can download Computer Active from the library that issued the card via an app called Libby.

OH thanks GG but sadly not. Ironically they do a post & digital subscription or just a postal one but not a digital only.
Maybe I will ask about friends in UK to see if any have the card.

I decided that my old pc, which has been upgraded a few times, was past its best so bit the bullet & bought a new Dell Inspiron. 256GB SSD & 1TB hard drive so boots up super fast. Still changing stuff from old pc at the moment. One thing that no longer works is Windows Live Photo Gallery, apparently not compatible which is a real pia. Having to get to grips with Windows Media Player at the moment. Also Win 11 does not come with a CD/DVD player so need to download a program to listen to CD's.

Thanks Dave. That was my worry that I couldn't reload 'Windows Photo Viewer'.
I thought the Windows Media Player was ditched before Win10.
